I snatched my eyes away from Brutal’s threatening stare and locked eyes with Royal.

“How was I ’pose to know your stalking ass broke into my phone and stored your number in it before I left?”

“You was supposed to check your phone… pop up at a nigga crib, shit… something.” He chuckled.

“Nigga, please, I ain’t toxic like that.” I waved him off.

“Yeah, we gon’ see… Come on, we got like two and a half hours before our reservation. I know that musty ass pussy needs some soap and water.” He reached behind me and slapped the top of my booty.

I gasped as the sting from his hand traveling up my spine. My ass jiggled disrespectfully, and I almost didn’t recognize the school girl giggle that escaped my lips.

“Walk in front of me so I can see that big ol booty jiggle in them loose ass MC Hammer trouser pants you got on.” He teased.

“I swear you be having me fucked up, but I’m gon’ walk.” I rolled my eyes hard at him before walking past him.

“Yeaaahhhh, let me see that ass move Breasturant.” He ordered in that rough ass voice of his.

I looked back as he stood behind me with one hand hooked over his belt buckle like he just knew he was that nigga.

“You so damn childish,” I muttered, trying to fight the smile threatening my mouth.

“Walk baby,” he repeated.

The second I turned back around, I felt his stare hit me so hard it almost felt physical like his eyes had hands. I gave him a show. My hips rolled harder with every step. My thick ass switched deliberately, making sure to drag it out too. I put an extra sway in my waist just because I knew he was behind me practically foaming at the mouth.

“Roof roooffff. Rooofff.” He barked loud then growled.

Brutal laughed hard at Royal’s crazy antics, encouraging his bullshit. I couldn’t lie to myself, I loved the attention in a twisted way. Now I had to say a silent prayer to keep it together once we got in this truck.

CHAPTER 19

Royal

THE START OF DATE NIGHT.

I walked down the hallway toward the guest suite, slowly adjusting the cuffs of my black dress shirt while old school R&B music played through the built-in speakers from my ceiling. I eyed the new Christmas decorations that I was glad my mom didn’t overdo like she did her house every single time the holidays came around.

She didn’t go too crazy in my house, but I did appreciate the sentiment of decorations. It made my house feel like a home and not just a place I came to sleep and shower in.

The guest suite that I put her in sat near the backside of the house overlooking my expansive backyard that I never went to unless the twins came over to hoop and jump in the pool. Amaris told me she didn’t understand why the people who built my home from ground up didn’t place the master bedroom on that side.

My guest suite was huge and it came with a connected bathroom and door that led out to the backyard. My mom loved the new space I put her in. We already had a talk about me hiring construction workers to build her a mini house of her own in the back of my house, just so she could have the privacy she needed.

I hated the smell of cigarettes, and that was one habit she refused to give up. The first week after I brought her home she barely came out the room. She wouldn’t eat unless I brought food directly to her myself. Conversations with her didn’t happen unless I initiated them.

All she did the first week was quietly let the doctor and nurse help heal her wounds and smoke cigarettes in her room or outside while healing in silence. Luca made me hire a private chef like the one I had on payroll wasn’t good enough. The new private chef cooked three times a day, courtesy of Luca once he saw how much weight she lost.

He brought his lukewarm ass over here at least three to four times a week and kept me updated on the things I needed to know. I didn’t realize how much I need time away from being in the streets and staying on top of people concerning mafia business.

By the second week, my momma started reclaiming herself in the new space I put her in. She started online shopping and leaving in the Mercedes Benz car I gifted her to do more intense shopping. I guess that shit was really a part of her therapy. She transformed her room into her own little sanctuary overnight.

Cream walls turned into mocha painted walls with new silk curtains, light enough to let the sun shine through to serve as an alarm clock for her in the mornings. She added a huge tan rug along with real flowers. The room smelled like her signature perfume mixed with the fumes of her cigarette.

I knocked twice before opening her door and smiled slightly to myself, seeing that she wasn’t in her room. I turned back toward the hallway just as a helicopter rumbled low above my property.

I probably overdid it for our first official date. Like I said, this shit was new to me. I was trying to be romantic in my own special way since it was the first time a woman even made me feel like going this far to impress and make happy. That shit made me realize that what I had with Serenity was different. I never felt the need to take her out but was content sitting with her talking and fucking.

Somewhere between Amaris’s smart mouth, being in her proximity and looking into her eyes… It started to feel like I needed her pretty ass around. She made me feel that something I longed to feel. That was the craziest part about it. I could never name what it was. I couldn’t sit down and explain it in a way that made sense to myself.
