“She didn’t fuckin’ tell me…. Why the fuck this woman keep hurting me?” I turned my back to Roy and started to pace.

“Luca.”

I balled my fists and eyed the wall like it betrayed me.

“Luca.”

I didn’t answer, I was in a battle of losing complete control over myself.

“She didn’t tell me,” I repeated again because my brain couldn’t find another sentence yet.

I felt Roy close to me.

“You gotta breathe, bro.” He sighed, squeezing my shoulder.

“I would’ve been there…” My words trailed as my eyes drifted toward the floor-to-ceiling windows like the city below had all the answers to my questions.

“This is why y’all not meant to be—”

“She ain’t supposed to be in Vegas without me.” I cut Roy off, not wanting to hear the raw truth of his words.

“You gotta get control over your emotions when it comes to—”

“She ain’t supposed to be carrying my child without me.” I shook my head, looking at Roy with glossed over and stinging eyes.

A painful ache stabbed at the center of my chest when I heard myself whisper the words out loud.

My child… My firstborn child…

I dragged both hands down my face hard enough to hurt.

“She protected by Reyes… which means she felt like she needed protection from me,” I said, more so to myself as a tear dared to escape my eye.

“Yeah, bro.” Roy sighed, stepping in front of me.

We stood toe-to-toe, both of his hands resting heavily on either side of my shoulders like he was trying to ground me. It was too late. If I had the energy, I’d tell him of all the pending havoc I was getting ready to cause in Vegas if La’Nova didn’t willingly come with me after I showed her how fucked up she really had me.

La’Nova didn’t know exactly who she was fucking with. I only showed her the side of me who fell head over hills for her.

“She went to Balani like she needed protection from me,” I whispered out, stepping away from Roy.

I turned and walked toward the window, wishing it could open up because I desperately needed air.

“You got time, bro. She ain’t had the baby yet.”

I turned away from the window to lock eyes with Roy like he had lost his mind.

“She should’ve told me, Royal.” I turned back to the window.

I started to count each passing car, hoping that it’ll throw my mind off the anger and hurt that tainted every living vein in my being. Questions started to fire off inside my mind, like had my baby started moving in her stomach yet? Did I miss the first kick? Was it a boy or girl? And was my baby healthy…

“You can’t fuck up by losing control right now,” Roy warned from a distance.

“She’s carrying my child,” I mumbled, letting my forehead press against the cold glass for comfort.

“I know,” he uttered

“Yet you’re telling me to stay calm.” I frowned against the glass; the coolness of it turned hot from the heat radiating off my forehead.
