Cain appears in the doorway. Looks at the drugs without expression. Pulls out his phone and starts photographing. Flash lighting up the small office in bursts.

Roan comes in behind him. Sees the heroin. His jaw tightens. "How much?"

"Street value probably two million."

"Burn it."

I nod. We start hauling the bricks outside into the gravel lot. They're heavy. Each one maybe two kilos. The vacuum seal makes them dense. Stack them in a pile twenty feet from the building.

Axel has a red gas can. Pours accelerant over the pile. The smell is sharp and chemical. Makes my eyes water.

Tate drags Sully out and props him against the warehouse wall. The blood from his shoulder has soaked through his shirt and is dripping onto the ground. His face is pale but his eyes are focused and angry.

Cain crouches in front of him. "You're going to answer questions."

Sully spits. Blood mixed with saliva lands on the gravel between them. "Fuck you."

Cain's expression doesn't change. He reaches out and presses his thumb directly into the bullet wound in Sully's shoulder.

Sully's scream cuts through the night.

"Victor Crane ordered Perry's death," Cain says. Not a question. "Confirm."

Sully is breathing hard through his teeth. Doesn't answer.

Cain presses harder. Drives his thumb deeper into the wound. Sully's scream cuts off into a choked gagging sound. His face goes white.

"Confirm," Cain repeats. His voice is completely flat.

"Yes." The word comes out strangled. "Crane ordered it. Personal kill. Wanted to prove he still has power after you hit the clubhouse."

"How many loyal members does Marrow have left?"

Sully's head drops forward. Sweat drips off his face. Cain moves his hand back toward the wound and Sully flinches. "Five. Maybe less. Dutch is still recovering from what Diesel did to him. Most of the others scattered after the clubhouse burned."

"Where is Victor Crane?"

"I don't know."

Cain's thumb presses into the wound again. Not as deep this time but enough. Sully makes a sound like an animal.

"I don't know," Sully says again through gritted teeth. "He doesn't tell us shit. Moves around. Has some property outside the county but I've never been there. He doesn't trust anyone anymore."

"What's his next move?"

Sully hesitates. Cain waits. Patient and still.

"Bloomfield," Sully finally says. "He wants to hit the town. Civilians. Schools maybe. Businesses. He wants to prove Vigil can't protect everyone."

The words land like a fist in my chest. I knew this was coming. Knew Crane was desperate enough to break the unwritten rules. But hearing it confirmed makes it real.

"Timeline?" Cain asks.

"Within the week. That's all I know. He doesn't tell us details anymore. Doesn't trust anyone after his daughter turned."

Cain stands. Looks at me. I nod. We have what we need.

"Ambulance is twelve minutes out," Cain says to Sully. "Anonymous tip called from a burner. You'll live."
