This woman, orderly and seemingly perfect at work, was the complete opposite in her home. Shaking my head, I skulked down the hall until I was near enough to stand and watch the last of her shower through the cracked-open door. My cock gave another jerk in my jeans like it was trying to remind me it was attached to my body and needed to be attended to, but I ignored it for now. I had time.
Standing there, I wanted to close my eyes and breathe the heady citrus scent of Adalyn’s body wash in and never stop. The heat of the shower only accentuated the delicious aroma. It wasn’t as good as the scent of burning flesh, but I had to admit it was up there on my list of favorite smells. It screamed clean and fresh and sweet, just like the fruit it mimicked. The water shut off, and after a moment, Adalyn’s hand emerged from the steamy shower to feel around for a towel.
I stepped away from the door and hid among the shadows, melding in with them as a lover would. I’d been born a monster, or maybe a creature from Hell, if it existed. It had taken me time to realize that, but I did now. I saw myself for what I was, and I embraced it rather than pretending to be something else.
Adalyn stepped into the hall with one towel wrapped around her body and a second towel on her head in a fancy twist thing. She didn’t notice me even though I stood only fifteen feet away. As she moved, so did I. I loved how the towel draped over her curvy ass and showed off those shapely legs I craved to have wrapped around my head once more. I loved seeing her bare shoulders and slender neck, which was prime for sucking. Fuck the boyfriend. When I was done with her, she’d always remember me.
She turned into her bedroom, and I knew I would never forget the look of surprise and terror in her eyes as she looked up and saw me behind her in the tall mirror. As she froze, so did I. Our eyes locked in the mirror—scared met ravenous. Her body shook instantly, goosebumps rising all along her skin. Adalyn’s hand went to her mouth, and I knew she’d been tempted to scream but managed to swallow it down.
“Go ahead and scream, see what happens next.”
I grabbed her by the shoulders and slowly turned her around to face me. She was like a petrified little bunny looking up at me. Bunnies always got eaten by the wolf.
“Derek.” She said my name, the word coming out as a long stutter.
“Adalyn,” I said, mocking her fear. “I told you I avenged you, and you told me to go away. You told me that you’ve moved on after feeding me lines for years and professing love. I don’t think so. That’s not how you treat the people you claim to love.”
The murky thing that lived in my soul filled my body with a feeling that I’d never been able to describe. Maybe it was anger, or maybe it was betrayal, or sadness—I really couldn’t tell, but it wanted her blood. It wanted her flesh. It wanted to see the light fade from her eyes the same way the light had disappeared from the eyes of the only other bitch that had turned against me in my life. My mother deserved to die that night, and so did Adalyn now. Women couldn’t be trusted.
“I trusted you, and you turn your back on me?”
“Ahhhh,” Adalyn screamed as I picked her up around the waist and tossed her down on the bed. Her body bounced and the towel splayed open, showing off the body she’d handed over willingly only a few months ago. “Derek, what are you doing?”
She tried to crawl off the bed, but I grabbed her ankle and hauled her back as she now tried to scream. The houses were way too close together for her screams to go unnoticed. My large palm looked huge wrapped around her face as I clamped it down to muffle the sound.
Her eyes were wide as she smacked my hand. I leaned down and sniffed her skin that was so sweet. She was as soft and stunning as I remembered.
“If you scream, it will only make things worse,” I said. She nodded, so I removed my hand.
“I don’t understand, Derek.” Tears welled in her eyes, and a little of the dark shadow that floated around inside of me lightened. “I didn’t lie, I did love….”
I cut her off.
“Stop saying that. You didn’t love me. You never loved me.” Grabbing together both of her hands in one of mine, I held up the piece of rope and gave her a suspicious look when she didn’t struggle to get away. “Why aren’t you fighting?” I asked, the anger morphing into confusion.
“Would it do me any good?”
I mulled that question around. She had a point. I’d overpower her and kill her no matter what she did, but there was still something off about her reaction. It was too casual, too…I couldn’t put my finger on it.
“No, I guess it wouldn’t. Is your boyfriend on the way?” Adalyn yelped as I gave the rope a hard tug and tied her with her hands above her head to the long, white metal bar that acted as a headboard.
“No.”
“You swear?” I grabbed her chin, and she sucked in a deep breath.
“I swear,” she whispered, and then the stupid towel slipped completely open, and I couldn’t stop staring at her heaving breasts. Her nipples were hard and stood out from the beautiful peaks, heaving in rhythm to her breathing.
One finger at a time, I pulled on the black leather gloves until I could slip my hands out and laid the gloves on her nightstand, loving how she watched my every movement.
“Derek, please try to understand that I do love you, but sometimes love is not enough. We have very different views on life, our future, and the world. Like, the situation with Jim and the others should’ve been handled differently in my mind.”
“Oh, and how were you planning on solving the problem?”
“I was suing them. I had pressed charges against the men and the hospital, but my case went up in smoke with the asylum itself before it even got started.”
Unable to help myself, I trailed the back of my finger down the side of her body, loving the silky softness of her skin. She shivered under my touch, a small gasp leaving her mouth.
“Do you really think that would’ve gone somewhere? The hospital would’ve paid you off to keep you quiet, and the guys would’ve continued on with their lives. They’d eventually get work somewhere else because the system is that broken, and in the end, they’d hurt someone else.”
