“About Michael?” I moaned again. Skye looked up at me from under her midnight black eyelashes and smiled.
“The prophecy about how an apocalypse is to happen and the Fallen are the keys to stopping it or opening the gateways. Maybe he is trying to stop that. I mean, Lucifer has been hard at work to make sure he can take over Earth.”
“Maybe, with Michael, you never know. He seems to be the only one that can get away with pissing Father off or disobeying his orders and still sitting on his pretty pedestal.” I laid my head back against the booth cushion and relaxed into what Skye was doing. “I do know that I’m not helping him. Even if he were to get down and suck my cock as he begged for my forgiveness, I wouldn’t help my so-called brother.”
Just then, Skye did a particularly talented maneuver, and my aforementioned cock exploded in her mouth. I groaned while she continued to suck every last drop that I offered. She plopped herself down on the booth seat, wiping some excess liquid off her chin. She proceeded to stick her fingers in her mouth and lick up every bit.
“That was delicious, so are you going to invite me over tonight or what?”
I looked into her eager eyes and really wanted to say no. I had a million things on my agenda tomorrow, but I was having a rare moment of generousness and nodded my head yes. She smiled seductively and then jumped up to presumably go and get her own drink that wasn’t me.
“You do know she is getting attached, right?” I looked over my shoulder at Skye and then at Neven and lifted my shoulders, not really caring. “You did make her night, though,” Neven said.
“I can make it two if you’d like to join again. I’m going to be up all night anyway.”
Neven squirmed, his ass shifting from side to side. “I really shouldn’t. I’ve been trying not to be so needy. It’s hard trying to be a good demon.”
I looked at his serious face and laughed. “Is that what you really want?” Neven shook his head no, his eyes flashing green as his half-demon side made an appearance. I leaned in and whispered in his ear. “You know you can’t resist me, and I always get what I want.”
Neven shivered and nodded slowly.
Tonight was shaping up to be not as boring as I thought after all.
Minetta jumped with the loud beeping noise. Penny hadn’t been at work yesterday, which made the whole strange dinner with Penny continue to dance around in her mind. She sent Penny a text and got an ‘all is well, see you next week’ with a smiling emoji, but it had still taken her forever to fall asleep. Penny seemed fine when she came back from the washroom, but there was something about Penny’s initial reaction that nagged in the back of her mind. On the bright side, this was James’s hang-out-with-the-boys weekend, and he left a day early. So that blissfully meant she didn’t have to deal with him or that situation for now.
She leaned up on her arms and looked down to see Toby. His big furry body was the reason why her legs were going numb. His entire body was draped over her lower limbs, and he didn’t seem like he had any intention of moving. With a great deal of effort, she got the first one out from underneath him and then pulled her second leg free. He was such a cute mammoth.
A deep rumbling groan was his answer to her movement as he rolled onto his back. “Don’t you complain to me, Mister. You could’ve moved, you know.”
She quickly showered and checked the temperature for the day. It was supposed to be hot with no chance of showers, a perfect Friday for a fundraiser. There was an annual triathlon taking place downtown, and since they’d agreed to donate a large sum of the profits to the food bank she volunteered at, it only made sense that she worked for it too. Her boss hadn’t been thrilled to give her a day off so she could volunteer, but since she rarely took time off, he couldn’t find a reason to argue.
She rummaged around in her closet and finally decided on a pair of cut-off white shorts and the T-shirt the volunteers were supposed to wear.
Toby followed her downstairs, and she gave him his usual breakfast while she prepared her green tea and oatmeal with fruit. The latest Doja Cat song came on the radio, and she hummed along to it. Toby let out a woof and twisted his head, looking at her. “What? Is my humming that terrible too?” She laughed.
“Come on, you. I got permission to take your overgrown butt with me,” she teased and held up Toby’s leash. Grabbing her miniature backpack and her sidekick, she opened the door and swore. “Shit!”
Her heart hammered as she stared into Penny’s face, her hand raised poised to knock. “Holy hell, Penny, you just scared the bejesus out of me.”
Penny laughed, her bright blue eyes smiling. “I’m pretty certain there is no holy in Hell, but I get the saying. I didn’t mean to scare you. Are you off somewhere?”
She pointed to the logo on the shirt with the word volunteer splashed across it. “I thought I told you about it?”
“You probably did, you know me, always forgetting stuff. Well, did you want to play hooky from the race and hang with me instead? I felt bad for my behavior the other night and thought I could make up for it. I wasn’t on the schedule today, and when I called work to see about us having lunch, they said you didn’t come in.”
“Oh, that’s really sweet, but you didn’t have to drive all the way over here to see if I was okay. I’d scheduled the day off awhile ago but forgot to mention it.”
Penny held up a plastic bag. “I got chicken soup. Hey, why don’t we go to the beach or go shopping? Heck, we could even rent a cabin for the night, and Toby here could come as well,” Penny said and smiled wide.
She lifted an eyebrow at Penny. “I appreciate the offer, but I’m looking forward to helping out today. Besides, there’s no need to apologize.” She lifted a shoulder and let it drop. “Girl, we are all prone to having strange days.”
“Oh, okay.” Penny looked around and then down at her feet, and she immediately felt guilty. “Do you think they would want another volunteer? I don’t have anything else going on and would still like to hang out.”
Her mood lifted, and she smiled wide at her friend. “Yes, I think they would be more than happy to have an extra pair of hands.” She’d met Penny not long after she moved to New York, and they’d become fast friends, which was a good thing because she’d lost all of hers years prior. That happens when you spend all your time at a hospital instead of going to the movies or getting drunk at parties. You quickly become a non-factor. Her mother said they were never really her friends in the first place, but it was still a difficult time, and Penny had been exactly what she needed.
“Here, let me put the soup in the fridge, and we can get going,” she said, taking the bag from Penny and heading toward the kitchen.
Stepping out into the sun, she locked the door, and the two of them made their way down the street. A man passed and stared at her and then at Penny. She thought that he was being flirty, but a girl walking in the same direction on the opposite side of the street kept looking over.
