I know his power has been a little different since Versailles, but this feels… extra.
Not to mention, I’ve never seen it do this before.
Removing temptation, I slide my hands into my pockets.
Since Nix’s kidnapping, my decision to shift in front of humans, and everything that happened after, the atmosphere on campus has been charged.
Not as tense as I expected, but it feels like there’s an expectation for more crazy shit to happen.
At least today is the first day all week that there hasn’t been a whole herd of reporters on the street.
After Volik’s not-so-veiled threat at the end of our press interview, it seems like the governments will keep up their end of the peace agreement. But the more crazy shit that happens, the more likely they are to break that peace.
Not sure this churning wall of gravito counts exactly, but it’s probably not a good sign regarding his mental state.
“Should I go, or…?” I rock back on my heels.
It’s quarter to the hour. Classes will start letting out any minute. Meaning students are about to be all over the place, phones ready.
I tip my head back, looking at the sky.
It smells like rain is near.
My nose scrunches.
It also smells like apples. Weird.
I lower my chin. Then stumble back a step, yanking my hands out of my pocket for balance. Because the wall of gravito is gone.
Volik laughs at my dramatic reaction. But I’m not looking at him.
I’m looking at the even bigger vampire beside him.
The barefoot one, wearing a robe that’s too small, with a chain around his waist and a damned sword at his hip.
His hair is long, hanging halfway down his chest. And his gaze is locked on mine.
I inhale and amend my earlier thought.
There is no rain. Just a storm.
And it’s him.
“Henry, I would like you to meet Vameer. My brother.”
I blink, glancing at Volik, then back at the intimidating vampire.
My brows lift as I process what Volik said. “Brother?”
“Da.” Volik claps his hand on the giant’s back.
Vameer, the one who has been missing for over a century, doesn’t move.
“Well. Holy hells.” I stare at the pair, certain this will count as crazy shit.
“Eloquent.” Nix snickers.
I turn my attention to say something to her, but that’s when I finally register the woman beside Vameer.
