I cuddled further into Knight, trying to remember how the hell we’d gotten into this position. I’d been in front of him and bent over the seat of his bike while he fucked me—there was no other word for it—like his life depended on it, and I’d been so turned on, so well-used, that when he finally let me come, I’d lost track of time and space. When I came to, I found him sitting on the seat of the bike with me somehow across his lap, my head resting against his shoulder and his arms around me. We were both at least partially naked—though he’d pulled his boxers back up—and his hands had been brushing my skin like he was trying to paint it.

I wasn’t even sure how long we’d been here, but I wasn’t in a big hurry to leave again. I felt warm and safe and incredibly satisfied, and though I knew I probably shouldn’t take that at face value, because there was an awful lot to dig into in terms of why I felt that way, I wasn’t interested in doing it right now.

I also didn’t want to rejoin the real world, where I would inevitably have to think about things like whether this was going to last and how the hell it would work. I couldn’t just leave one MC’s president and shack up with his enemy, no matter how big a jackass the first guy had been. It went against all the rules of motorcycle clubs, and no one in this area would ever trust me again. They also wouldn’t trust Knight, and that was a much bigger problem. Never mind the trouble it was already bringing on between the Banshees and the Steed. If the other MCs around here decided that Knight couldn’t be trusted because he went around stealing other guys’ girlfriends, it would upset the entire apple cart.

Or the entire motorcycle, I guessed. If you wanted to be genre-appropriate.

Still. For right now, right here on this bike in the growing shadows of another hot Arizona night, when it was just the two of us, I didn’t have to think about that sort of thing. I could restrict myself to thinking about how safe I felt sitting in his lap, letting him run his fingers over my skin, and how satisfied I was to be here.

Like I’d finally found the place I had always belonged.

Another dangerous thought, and this one was enough to make me sit up and stretch, just to push it out of my mind before it could take root. “Think we should head in?” I asked. “I bet everyone else is back by now.”

Knight shifted to look down at me, though I didn’t think he was any happier to be moving around and thinking about leaving than I was. “That’s right, the whole place was empty when I got back. Where the hell was everyone? Was there some party they didn’t tell me about?”

I smirked. “No, though it would have served you right if we’d all gone to a party without you. Everyone was out looking for you. You were gone all fucking day, and we were starting to get nervous. When they asked me if I thought they should go into town to look for you, I told them yes.”

He looked at me like I’d just said something wrong, and I wondered whether I should take it back.

“I mean, not that I have any control here or anything, but everyone wondered where you were, and—”

He put one finger against my lips to stop the flow of words. “And you took charge and gave them direction,” he said simply, looking somehow satisfied at this statement. “I’m not at all surprised by that.”

Right. Well, that was weird, but at least he wasn’t mad, I guessed.

“So anyhow, they were all out looking for you, but I’m guessing they’re probably back by now. In fact...”

I felt myself flush from my neck all the way up to my hairline as I realized what I was saying. They must be back by now. They’d probably parked in the parking lot in front of the clubhouse and then walked right through the garage to get in.

The garage Knight and I were sitting behind. And we hadn’t been quiet or careful about what we were doing. In fact, I was pretty sure I’d been screaming at one point.

Oh. My... They probably all heard me. They probably all knew exactly what we were doing back here. Wait. Shit, were there cameras back here? Was there a chance they’d actually been able to see us?

Why the fuck hadn’t I thought of that before? This had seemed like such a brilliant idea, but now that I was thinking it through, I could see about fifteen holes in the plan.

Knight watched what must have been a truly amusing set of emotions scramble across my face, amused, and finally brought me in for a hug. “Don’t worry,” he whispered. “They know enough to leave me alone and keep their mouths shut when I’m busy.”

Not even trying to deny that they probably saw us or heard us.

Terrific.

“This is going to shock you, but that doesn’t make me feel much better,” I said wryly.

His chest rumbled with a low laugh, and he picked me up and put me down on the side of the bike, giving my ass a quick pat. “Get dressed. Let’s go inside and see if they’re actually even here.”

I decided that arguing wouldn’t do any good—after all, if they’d heard us, they’d heard us—and quickly pulled my bikini bottoms back on. I drew on the jean shorts I’d been wearing over the bikini when I came out here, and then took the T-shirt Knight threw at me.

He was already dressed, of course, because he was evidently capable of doing everything at lightning speed without anyone else seeing him, and when he took my hand and started to stroll toward the clubhouse, I didn’t fight him. I wasn’t sure how everyone else would feel about him holding my hand and coming in from what had obviously been a night time tryst, but then again, I wasn’t positive I cared.

After all, he didn’t seem to. And he knew these people a lot better than I did.

We’d barely gone ten steps, though, when his phone rang. Knight pulled it out of his pocket and glanced at the screen, then frowned. When his eyes came up to me, the frown deepened.

He answered the phone and put it on speaker. “This is Knight.”

“And you know who the hell this is, unless you’ve gone stupid since I last saw you.”

I almost bit my tongue in surprise. The voice on the other end of the line was Devil’s. And he sounded pissed.
