“Are you trying to make a move on my wife?”
“Bro, if I’m able to make a move on your wife, don’t you think that means you fucked up? Maybe you should reflect on that.”
When I had no response, he snorted and made a mock bowing gesture as we reached our floor.
“After you, idiot.”
“You always said she would cost me the promotion! Why were you saying that shit about her if you wanted her so badly?”
Zack laughed heartily. “That was just opsec, man. Who in their right mind would ever dump Bitsy? She’s every man’s dream woman.”
“Stay away from my wife,” I warned, straightening my tie again and going back inside.
Well, as much as I hated to admit it.
Zach might be an asshole but he was right about one thing.
It had all been my own damn fault.
Only I had no idea how to fix it.
CHAPTER 9
Bitsy
My husband clearly thought things would go instantly back to normal the second he said sorry, but that was how life had gone for Chadley Parker-Bowles.
Mr. Golden Boy.
Well, I had no intention of dropping my tradwife act. If he wanted a tradwife, he was getting a tradwife.
“Wanna see a little show?” my husband asked after he got home from work.
Now, I absolutely loved loved when he did this, a little sexy striptease in front of me in his work clothes, but he was normally too straight-edged to do it except on my birthday.
Oh, Chad thought he was slick.
Now what would a tradwife do?
“Sure, honey,” I said.
He gave me a little glance, and I wondered if maybe the fact that he had really messed us up had penetrated his thick skull yet.
“Ooh, you like what you see?” he asked, reaching those long, strong fingers up to his tie and began to slowly pull it loose.
Usually this was something I loved, as he slowly changed from a proper, buttoned-up, corporate guy, to someone who was silly and goofy and a little bit feral.
And mine.
But I didn’t feel like I had a mine anymore.
“It’s very nice,” I said.
He looked discomfited.
“Want me to keep going?”
“Of course, that would be very nice. Whatever you like.”
