Chapter 21

Deja slept like the dead for six hours straight. She didn’t even move from the position she’d fallen asleep in—in Tavin’s muscular arms, her head on his shoulder, her hand resting on his powerful chest.

His abs rose and fell with his deep breaths, and she let her fingers play across the sculpted planes of his torso. He was stunning, a perfect male specimen, and his scars only enhanced his allure.

Your Neethul is showing. Yes, she supposed it was. To her people, scars were badges of honor and signs of courage and virility.

He stirred against her, and she could feel—literally feel—his need for her. It wasn’t his erection pressing into her thigh. It wasn’t his palm cupping her breast.

It was a bold, tingling awareness deep in her heart. In her soul.

What the—?

“I need you, lirsha,” he murmured into her ear. “Now.”

Lirsha. Lover.

He’d just called her his lover, the way he had…before.

She didn’t even think about refusing. She shifted onto her side so he was spooning her, reached down, and guided him to her entrance.

“That’s it.” His voice was a guttural rasp that made liquid heat flow to her center.

He filled her slowly, making every fraction of an inch a new, heightened shock of sensation. Oh, how she remembered this. How, when he was taking his time, he could get her so worked up that she’d come before he even seated himself fully.

Shivering in anticipation, she let herself fall into a blissful haze, concentrating on how his skilled hand felt as he caressed her breast. How his lips tickled her neck as he kissed the sensitive skin along her spine.

Gods, she could feel his need. She was even more attuned to his desire than she had been before.

Before he killed her.

Stop it!

Now was not the time for the past. This might be the last time they had sex, and she wanted it to be good—the best ever.

Although it would be hard to beat what they’d done last night. That had been explosive. Mind-blowing. Transformative.

“Now,” she gasped, practically quivering with the need to come.

He pumped his hips as he lifted her leg to make room to go deeper, and she cried out at the new sensations. He growled in response, moving faster, and when she reached down to caress his sac, he bucked, hammering into her so forcefully she heard the scrape of the bed sliding on the hardwood floor.

Pleasure built, and she clenched around his rigid shaft as he rocked against her. His sac tightened and throbbed in her hand, and then he was roaring her name. Inside her, his swollen cock stroked her sensitive flesh with every plunge. It was the most erotic thing ever, and she screamed as hot come splashed inside her and triggered a tsunami of climaxes.

She convulsed, over and over, sometimes crying out in gluttonous bliss, other times begging for quarter.

Finally, mercifully, the erotic storm subsided, and they lay there, panting, shuddering, recovering from another mind-blowing joining. Back when she’d been Gristlen, sex with him had been incredible. But now, it was…she couldn’t even describe it. All she knew was that she wanted more.

She would have to kill him before she became an addict.

“Holy shit,” she breathed. She was exhausted, her body limp, her lungs squeezing almost painfully as they tried to take in enough oxygen.

“Agreed.” His voice was gravelly, destroyed, and it made her preen with feminine pride.

With a satisfied sigh, she brushed her messy mop of hair out of her face. And froze with her hand on her scalp.

Her arm. Her left arm. What the hell?

Dark markings, barely noticeable against her gray skin, stared back at her like intimate graffiti.
