Chapter 18
While Tavin finished showering, Deja plunked herself down on the couch to watch TV. Anything to get her mind off what Tavin had just said.
“When I wake up in five hours, I’m going to be hard as a rock, and I’m not going to be able to think about anything but getting inside you. The first time will be rough and raw. I can’t help that. But I promise to take care of you. Will you let me do that, Deja?”
Let him? She’d almost joined him in the shower and demanded it.
And then she’d come to her senses. He needed Sleeva.
But did he really? Why should she care if he healed fully?
She didn’t. So, she flipped through the channels on the TV because this line of thinking was getting her nowhere except sexually frustrated, and really, she didn’t think she’d ever get tired of human programming.
Sheoulhad TV too, and the internet, and most of the conveniences found in the human realm. It was just that Sheoulic media was full of demon programming, and demon programming was…awful. Oh, you could get human movies and shows, but mostly only reality TV and horror, which to demons was comedy.
But once she started nursing school and got a shared apartment in Australia with three other students, she became obsessed with the television. Tavin didn’t have many channels, and the only thing that really came in decently was BBC News, so she settled for that.
It didn’t take long for exhaustion to set in though. Within minutes, she was fighting to keep her eyes open. Somehow, she managed to stay awake until she heard Tavin get out of the shower and climb into bed.
This might have been the longest day ever.
Aside from all the physical activity, like fighting for her life and then hauling heavy bodies out of the house, she’d run the gamut of emotions. And if she’d learned anything at all over the years, it was that hate, anger, and fear took more energy—mental and physical—than fighting.
Yawning, she curled into a ball on the couch and closed her eyes.
The first image that appeared behind her eyelids was Tavin. That time he’d brought her to this very house. It had been her first time in the human realm, and she’d been obsessed with everything. The fresh air. The sun. The flowers. There wasn’t a single thing she’d found that wasn’t beautiful.
Including Tavin.
They’d made love over and over.
“Someday, I want you to be my mate, lirsha,” he’d whispered into her ear. “I want you to be mine forever.”
Dreaming. She was dreaming now.
And, suddenly, she was in the shower with him.
In that hotel.
And she couldn’t stop the dream. Did she even want to? It felt so good…
Ecstasy streaked through her, an explosion of pleasure fueled by love for the male in her arms. Tavin moved against her in a frenzy, hammering between her thighs with an almost violent hunger as if wringing every ounce of pleasure and emotion out of both of them.
He roared in release, a pained, tortured sound unlike anything she’d ever heard. “I love you, Grist,” he rasped. “I…love…you.”
A sob broke from his chest as he kissed her throat. Panting, she threw her head back against the wet tile to give him full access. Not just to her throat but also to her heart and soul.
“I love you too.” She moaned as the last ripples of ecstasy began to strengthen again into the long minutes of pleasure a Seminus demon could give.
Orgasms took her over and over, and she counted three more from him too. Exhaustion and a liquid, floaty feeling left her feeling rubbery and thankful for his powerful arms holding her upright.
And just when she thought she was done, he pumped his hips once more, and another orgasm blasted her apart. Shattering her.
“I’m so sorry, baby,” he whispered, and before she could ask why, something stung. Just a little, but deep inside her chest.
Cool shower water dripped down her face, her neck, and over her breasts, but beneath it, a warm stream flowed. The sting morphed into pain, and she gasped as her lungs turned to concrete.
What was happening?
