“Control your fucking emotions brother before I knock yo’ ass out!!” Greek was the only one to get me in a head lock.
He had Golden’s help, but he used all his strength, and it was noticeable.
“I’m good! I said I’m good!” I fought to be released from them.
They let me go and I went right to my car, started it up and burnt rubber. I could hear them shouting my name. If Story wasn’t at home, then she had to have been at her Regan’s house. I’ve picked her up from there a few times.
When I called Story’s phone again. I was blocked. She had to have just blocked me because when I was with Blake it rang until her voicemail picked up. I heard a loud horn when I looked out of my rear-view mirror.
I saw that it was Greek’s truck behind me. My brother can honk his horn the whole way if he chooses. I wasn’t stopping until I got to Regan’s house.
As soon as I saw Story’s car, I became relieved. But Greek arrived directly after me, Golden and Blake were with him. Regan came out of her front door when I walked across her grass.
“Halo take your behind home and leave my sister alone!”
I wasn’t aggressive like I was with Hendrix because Regan was a woman. I’d never put my hands on one like I did him. As if he heard me think of him, Hendrix’s car pulled in the driveway, Siren was with him.
I thought they were about to come at me. But they went up on the porch, and I saw Story let them in. Hendrix closed the door so fast that I only got a glimpse of her.
“Story! Please come out and talk to me! Please, boo! We can fix this!” I begged and tried to get on the porch, but Greek and Golden wouldn’t let me. “Would y’all move! I need to talk to my girl! Move!!” I looked at them like they were crazy.
“Halo! You need to quit before the police are called! Let’s go and she’ll reach out to you later!” Golden of all people was blocking me and trying to get me to leave.
“He’s not playing around! I am seconds from calling the police on you now leave!” Regan threatened and her phone was in her hands.
Thios was a losing battle, and I felt increasingly suffocated. I wanted my girl, I needed her and I couldn’t get her. There were all these obstacles in my way, everybody shouting at me, blocking me and she wouldn’t even come to the door.
“Get in the damn car and let’s go home! Swear Halo if the police arrive, I am kickin’ yo’ ass for a long time! Let’s go!” Greek ain’t never flipped out on me the way he was.
Golden’s frustration followed behind him. I believe in that moment if I had the power to just ‘merk’ (slang for kill)) all of them to get my boo then I would. I’ve never had that feeling before and I quickly pushed that thought out.
I love Story that much that I would do anything to get her to forgive me. But right now, I was not getting anywhere. Regan looked like she was on her last warning, and my brothers were not giving in. They did not stop until I got in my car and drove away.
Greek followed close by behind me. I almost crashed my car because I could barely see clearly. My feelings were all over and I honestly wanted to just drive into a river. It was that deep for me, and I couldn’t blame anyone but myself.
Story
February 2022 Three Years Later
“Hey guys! How is Barbados?” I asked my parents when they video called me.
“It is breathtaking! We may never come home.” My mama joked.
“Not to mention your father has come alive since we have been here. Last night---
“Ma! Do not finish that sentence!” Pixie screamed.
Jesse got up and left. Me and Regan covered our ears screaming. We loved our parents and were happy they were on a trip for their anniversary. But we did not want to hear about sex when it comes from them. They were gone for a week and wanted me and Regan to come stay with Pixie and Jesse.
Even though Pixie was nineteen and Jesse was now sixteen. They did not want them to stay seven days alone. Regan made sure her clients knew she would not be in the shop for a week. I did the same with my clients as well.
“Regan, did you have any problems with reheating the lasagna I froze?” Mama asked her.
“No problem at all because it is still cozy in the freezer.”
Me and Pixie laughed at how our sister answered the question. One thing our mama loved to do was freeze leftovers or freeze prepared meals. Sometimes it was fine, mama could cook like nobody’s business. But we are older now and are not about to keep eating homemade TV dinners.
“You better not have your siblings surviving off of fast food while we’re gone!” Dad got in the camera and scowled.
