“Will it hurt? Not the pact but the secret. Will it hurt?”
She smiled and said, “Not at all, in fact it will make you feel good and me as well. All you have to do is listen to what I say and remember a few things. It is okay for you to let your body feel good. It may seem scary, but I am here with you, and you trust me. Right?”
“Right, I trust you.”
I watched her get up and go lock the door. When Ms. Toll came back, she told me to sit in her chair behind her desk. When I did, she followed me and got on her knees in front of the chair.
December 10th, 2008
When I closed my locker, Darius was standing behind it.
“What?” I asked because he just stood there looking at me like I took the last chocolate milk.
“Why are you still in art class?” He questioned me.
“Huh?”
“Art class! Why are you still there and I’m not!?” Darius got loud and I was confused about why.
“You left art class to go to gym. You said art was stupid, remember.”
What I said made him mad because he pushed me.
“You are not better than me!” He shouted then pushed me again.
Even though I do not know why he was so angry. I still was not about to let him push me, so I pushed him back.
“I am better than you! Your art sucks!”
Next thing I knew, me and Darius were fighting. I never imagined me and him would fight. Daruis only made jokes and made everyone laugh. Now we were in the hallway hitting each other and it did not stop until two teachers broke us up.
“That’s enough!” Our principal, Mr. Wallace, had Darius.
“Halo stop!” I knew the voice was Mr. Jupiter, my English teacher, was the one who had me.
“He thinks he’s better than me because Ms. Toll let him stay in art class!!”
“I am better!!” I shouted back.
When I did, Darius tried to climb over Mr. Wallace to get to me. I was not scared and waited for him to get close. I had so much boiling in me for a while now and he was about to feel it all. Another teacher came out and helped Mr. Wallce remove Darius from the hallway.
“I HATE YOU!” Daruis blurted out at me.
“I HATE YOU TOO!”
Mr. Jupiter carried me to his office and closed the door.
“Since when you and Darius fight each other?” He asked me then handed me a bottle of water.
I was breathing hard and still so angry.
“He started it! I was at my locker then he pushed me all because he sucks at art!”
“Hey.” Mr. Jupiter put his hand on my shoulder, and I jumped up out of my seat.
I startled him because he held both of his hands up. “Halo, calm down. I am here to help you. This is not normal behavior from you or Darius. We all have bad days, and you seem to have had a few lately. Is there anything you want to talk about?”
“No.” I answered fast. “I just want to go home.”
