Indi’s eyes lit up. “Yes. I’m so glad everyone could be here to celebrate with us.”

“As if we’d miss one of our boys’ weddings?” Gail said.

“Sutton, your new beau is quite a catch,” Margot said.

“He was telling us about your time in the rainforest. How exciting was that?” Gail asked.

“It was terrifying, but it was also exciting,” she admitted.

“Especially the nights,” Leni chimed in.

“Oh, is that where you two got together?” Faye asked.

Sutton gave her aunt a deadpan look. “Don’t pretend my mother hasn’t already filled you in. I know how things work around here.”

Her mother and the ladies shared a confirmatory glance and giggle.

“Well, you are like our daughter, too,” Faye said.

“I’m not complaining, Aunt Faye. I’m just saying there’s no need to pretend.”

“You’re right, honey. Why pretend?” Margot eyed Keira. “Sweetheart, did you see Faye’s boys? They sure have grown into handsome young men. You know, Jesse and Brent are in the restaurant business. You have that in common with them. Right, Faye?”

Keira rolled her eyes.

“Yes, and I have to admit, I’d really like to see my boys get married,” Faye said. “Reggie is getting a little long in the tooth.”

“Wouldn’t it be lovely if Keira and one of your boys got together?” Margot suggested. “We could be related.”

Sutton and Leni chuckled.

“Mom, please stop. I told you, I’m not dating right now,” Keira said. “I think I could use that drink now, girls. Excuse us.” She stalked away.

“She is relentless,” Indi said as they made their way toward the bar.

“Tell me about it,” Keira said. “Ever since Jules and Grant got married, she’s been hungry for more weddings. She tried to set Wells and Fitz up with tourists a few weeks ago.”

“I’m sure they didn’t mind,” Leni said.

“Keira!” Five-year-old Ritchie Lacroux ran over and grabbed Keira’s hand, blinking wide, excited eyes up at her from beneath his thick, wavy hair. “Will you dance with me?”

Keira’s smile reached her eyes. “I would love to dance with you. Sorry, girls, looks like I’ll get that drink later.”

“You know Ryan put him up to that,” Leni said as they watched their friend walk away. Ritchie’s uncle Ryan Lacroux was his legal guardian, and the hottest cop on the island. He was raising him for his brother, who had substance abuse issues. Ryan had been stopping by Keira’s café, the Sweet Barista, for months, asking her to make special treats for his nephew. Keira said there was nothing more to it, but Leni and Sutton thought otherwise. Unfortunately, Keira saw Ryan as drama waiting to happen.

Sure enough, Ryan sidled up to Keira and Ritchie as they reached the dance floor and put a hand on Keira’s back. She extracted herself by moving to Ritchie’s other side and glanced over her shoulder at Sutton and Leni with a wincing expression.

“Fifty bucks says they end up together,” Leni said.

Sutton watched the three of them dancing. “But she hates drama as much as you do, and kids are cute little bundles of drama.”

“And yet I ended up with a guy who creates drama everywhere he goes by simply existing.” Leni raised her brows.

“That’s true,” Indi said.

Sutton looked at Leni like she’d lost her mind. “That doesn’t sound like a profitable bet for us.”

“Damn it.” Leni leaned closer as they walked toward the bar. “Let’s get the guys to bet with us.”
