Mariah walked ova to me with tears in her eyes. I don’t know if she thought that would change my mind, but it didn’t.
“Why do you hate me?” she asked me softly.
That shit did kinda hit a spot.
“I don’t hate you. We just don’t vibe anymore. We have been together since I got locked in high school. Remember that shit?”
She wiped her tears away with a slight smile.
“Yeah, you said we were the new Bonnie and Clyde.”
I laughed. “I did, and you know what? Even they ran their course.”
The smile on Mariah’s face quickly went away.
“I don’t give a fuck about Bonnie and Clyde, Rosama. I care about us and what we have. I don’t want us to end. Can we try counseling? Your birthday is coming up. That could be a fresh start for us.”
I stood up and took Mariah into my arms, hugging her tight.
“This is what you want?” I asked. “A nigga to love on you, come home to you, fight with and for you, huh?”
She pulled back from me with a smile. “Yes, Rosama. I want all of that.”
I nodded. “You are not gonna get that shit from me, because I don't want to give it to you.”
I sat back down at the table. My phone rang with a text. I looked at my phone and saw it was Nylah
Nylah: What you could have had, but you fucked that up.
She sent me a picture of herself at work. Shorty was teasing me, making my dick jump and shit. I smirked at my phone while Mariah was running her mouth. I wanted Nylah to know I wasn’t bout to be playing with her.
Me: Damn, ma, if only I got to see that in person. But that time will come. Until then, have lunch on me.
I sent her three hundred, then heard Mariah clear her throat.
“Is that the bitch that’s taking up your time?”
After I sent Nylah some money for lunch, I looked up at Mariah.
“I have been dealing with some bitches that have been givin’ me what I need, and I mean ALL that I need. But this shorty on my line right now, I'm tryna make my wife.”
Mariah's eyes widened as I stood up and walked past her.
“So sign the papers so I can move on.”
“That bitch will be your wife over my dead body!” Mariah yelled out.
“Don't threaten me with a good time, mama, you already know how I get down,” I yelled back as I closed the front door behind me.
I pulled away from that house fast, knowing it was a waste of my time even being there. I needed to put my mind on something else before I crash out on that bitch, and for some reason, I decided to try and call Nylah.
“Damn, nigga,” she said as she picked up. “I been on your mind all night?”
I smiled at her smart-ass comment.
“Somethin’ like that, since you couldn’t respond to a nigga.”
“Well, that is what happens when you fuck up.”
