There was over fifteen years difference between him and Doc. At thirty years old, Savage had seen it all. Most didn’t know he was only thirty. Many assumed he was close to forty years old, but that was life surviving on the streets.

Doc had met him when Savage was sixteen years old, and he’d been a punk ass kid. Of course, he’d attempted to steal from Doc, which resulted in a punch to the face. He got knocked out, and from that day forward, Savage had been loyal to Doc and the Chaos Monsters MC. He did his time. Earned his patch before he turned eighteen and hadn’t looked back, not even as they settled in Rivermont Ridge.

Savage knew Doc wouldn’t be happy with him hanging around Charlotte. Not once during the last eighteen years had Savage spent any time with his little girl. He didn’t like kids.

After what happened to Jake, Savage had helped Doc gain revenge, and the only time he really saw Charlotte was at the funeral for her brother.

Savage didn’t do babysitting. He steered clear of the mess that was Nancy and the kids. Until now. Now, he didn’t seem to fucking move without catching sight of Charlotte.

It had started at the fucking fair. He shouldn’t have intervened. At first, he didn’t think much of Charlotte. She gained his attention in the way she acted. He knew sneaking around and trying to hide when he saw it. He didn’t know why Charlotte was doing that, until he caught sight of that group of thugs. His anger had been hard to keep under control.

Charlotte was not a bad person. She had been dealt a few hard blows in life. He knew she loved her little brother and knew Doc struggled with her feelings of guilt.

He needed to keep distance from her. Doc wouldn’t like him being around Charlotte. He was clear, he didn’t want Charlotte connected to the club, or anyone in it.

“What do you think?” Charlotte asked, after three weeks of him being her little model.

Savage spent every Friday night in his apartment, allowing Charlotte to practice on his face with makeup.

He lifted the mirror and looked at the smokey eye. “That is much better.”

She clapped her hands. “Maeve let me sit with her as she worked on a couple of clients today, and I see what you mean. She doesn’t dig into the palette. She dips in gently and even taps off the excess.”

He grabbed a cotton pad and wiped the makeup from his eye until it was clear.

“Can I practice again?” she asked.

Savage knew he shouldn’t stay. He pulled out his cell phone, hoping for any alert. They had potential trouble in Rivermont Ridge from one of their enemies, the Russian Bratva. He’d already located some drugs on a couple of the kids. They had reason to believe it was Hilary who had helped bring the drugs into Rivermont Ridge, which pissed Doc off.

Hilary was nothing more than a little whore who had worked her way around the club. However, after the trouble between Mac, Razor, and Eden, she’d been banished from the club. None of the brothers cared about losing Hilary’s pussy. She had been trying to trap a couple of the guys for months. No one was buying what she was offering.

Now it would seem she was causing them even more of a headache in bringing drugs into town. The biggest problem was, they couldn’t fucking find her, which was a shock. Hilary wasn’t exactly the brightest woman in Rivermont Ridge, however, she had evaded capture.

“Sure, why not? You ordered pizza?”

“Do you want me to order some?” she asked.

“Yeah, I am going to need pizza if I’ve got to keep sitting here while you work on this beautiful face.”

She laughed. “You’re full of yourself, aren’t you?”

“It’s the way to be, darling.”

She shook her head and got out of her seat to grab her cell phone. She ordered them a few pizzas and came back to the table.

“Do you know Maeve and my dad are a couple?” Charlotte asked.

“Yeah, I know. Everyone knows. How do you feel about that?”

“I’m happy about it. Also, Mom is planning on taking some time out of Rivermont Ridge. She and my dad have gotten to talking for once, and I might get to stay at home.”

She had the prettiest smile he’d ever seen. There were dimples on either side of her cheeks.

“You’re happy about that?” he asked.

“Hell, yeah. Mom hates this town, and rather than force me to leave, she has finally accepted that she wants to leave because that is her decision. It has nothing to do with me.” She shrugged. “I don’t want to leave.”

“What if your makeup artistry takes off?” he asked.
