“It’s incredibly suspicious,” Doc said, several days later.

Savage looked at his Prez, and he couldn’t have agreed more with him. He respected this man, loved and cared about him, and knowing that a few days ago he had his daughter underneath him fucking killed him.

Since they got back from his buddy Paulie’s place, they hadn’t been able to see each other. He’d been looking for ways to get to Martha Bernadette and keep a close eye on Andy. Doc had also been busy with his upcoming wedding to Maeve. It was all working right at the moment.

Only now, as he was finally in the same room with Doc and knew what he knew, it was tearing him apart, but he didn’t even know where he and Charlotte stood. It was all up in the air now.

“Have you noticed anything suspicious around Charlotte?”

“No, not a thing. I’m going to put a couple of the guys on her tail, though. Nitro, Iron. We can spare a couple of guys, just to be on the safe side.” Doc shook his head. “When it’s not one thing, it’s another. Any sign of who could be pulling the strings?”

“No one as yet.”

“Have you been able to check out this niece, Betty Jackson?”

“As yet, not a damn thing,” he said. “My guy is currently trying to locate the cell phone that sent the text messages, and the fact he’s struggling to find her is suspicious. Also, it appeared at one time Betty Jackson was the sole inheritor of the will.”

Doc sighed. “Fine, fine. You need to take point on this for now. So far, it’s not a direct threat to the club. However, if this Andy makes a move, it’ll be the sole focus of the club.”

He understood that.

“Is there anything else?” Doc asked.

“Only that it appears there is no direct link to the Bratva, and whoever his debt was with, they’re gone. It’s like it all cleaned up nicely,” Savage said.

“You see, that there is shit I don’t like,” Doc said. “No one allows a man like Andy to get away squeaky clean. I don’t like it. Get your guy to look into the debt. See what he can find.”

Savage nodded.

“Anything else?” Doc asked.

“Did you have a good Thanksgiving?”

“It was good. I spent it with Maeve, Eden, and Razor, and Mac also turned up. Also, Nancy was there. It was strange Charlotte not being there.”

And there came the guilt. He was expecting it as he looked toward his Prez. Right now, he didn’t need to bring it up, although a few days ago, he was licking Charlotte’s pussy. This was a fucking nightmare.

“I’ll get onto this,” Savage said, and he turned to leave.

Doc didn’t say a word. The man didn’t know, and he left the clubhouse, making his way out into the cold air, to go toward his bike. Pulling out his cell phone, he checked to see the information Paulie had sent to him about Martha’s schedule. Maeve and Charlotte were currently with her.

He clicked his tongue, and knew if he texted Charlotte to help him get inside, this would be easier. However, it also put Charlotte in a difficult situation.

He texted her, because he needed to go and talk to Martha first. It was insane to attempt to understand what was going on. Charlotte responded right away, saying she would let him in, but he had to find a way to the back door. This seemed easy at first, until he checked to see there was also a secured gate at the front of the house.

He’d parked his bike several streets down and ran to the garden. There also appeared to be security cameras, but he noticed there was no red light on them. Also, they didn’t move. He took the risk in climbing over the fence and making his way across the garden. There were no guards to stand watch, no sign of life. He snuck toward the back, where he saw the giant rottweiler dog, complete with a full tail and a very curious expression, and he couldn’t help but fall in love.

“You’re just the cutest dog, aren’t you?” He couldn’t help but crouch down, and he smiled at the dog. This was no guard dog. This was a giant little teddy bear that stole his heart. He loved dogs. They were the best creatures in the world. Although he never had a dog, he’d always been a sucker for them. It kind of helped that he had never been attacked by one. Even when a few of the foster parents had threatened him and got a snarling dog, for some reason, they always stopped snarling around him, and he would pet them. He sat on the back porch and stroked this giant dog’s head, while texting Charlotte to let her know he was here.

“You’re not a guard dog, are you? If so, I think you’re going to get fired, and then I’ll take you with me.”

He stroked her big head, and finally the back door opened, and Charlotte looked petrified. Savage was instantly on alert.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Nothing. I snuck off to use the bathroom, but you wanted to come in. I don’t have a lot of time.”

He couldn’t resist bending down and kissing the dog on the head. Getting to his feet, he snuck in.
