Lucas’s friend, Billy, went next, arms flaying and thinking he was going to take out Savage, but that didn’t happen, as Savage knocked him down as well with a single punch.
In a matter of seconds, Lucas’s six had lost five, with him standing, and he had stopped hurting her.
“How old are you?” Savage asked.
“Eighteen, fuck face,” Lucas said, but Charlotte heard the fear in his voice. He was afraid. She had never heard Lucas afraid, but he had never had a reason to be scared before.
“Good.”
Savage attacked, and Charlotte was shocked as suddenly, she wasn’t the one pinned to the wall of the bathroom. He had a hand wrapped around Lucas’s throat and the other literally squeezing his balls. The grip looked painful.
“Did you really think you were going to get away with coming after her?” Savage asked. He let out a little tut as Lucas screamed. “What’s the matter, fuck face? You can’t speak? With how confident you were, I’m guessing you’re used to hurting her. Well, guess what, you speak to her, look in her direction, or even so much as breathe the wrong way, I will make you my personal little fuck toy. You won’t be able to think as I use you. You heard me. I will make your life a living hell. Try me, boy, because I’m a man, and I don’t play around.”
He twisted his hand, and Lucas cried out.
Charlotte looked at Savage as he held his hand out to her and without another word, they stepped out of the bathroom.
“Please don’t tell my parents,” Charlotte said.
“How long has that been going on?” Savage asked.
“Look, it’s not always that bad.”
“Not bad? I wonder how many other women would say it’s not that bad walking into sexual assault. I heard what he said. Don’t play games with me. I’m not entertained.”
She held her hands out, because if her dad caught wind of anything that just went down, he would kill Lucas and everyone associated with him. She got that, but then it would cause a lot of other problems, and she didn’t want to have to deal with any of that either. It sucked, in a big way.
“It has never been that bad, and I doubt very much it will be that way again. I promise. Please, please, please don’t tell my dad. He will go freaking crazy. You know he will.”
Savage stared at her. Her parents were finally getting along. The last thing she needed was to cause another argument.
“Fine, but if anything happens, and I mean, if you even get a fucking funny feeling, you come to me. If you don’t, I’m handing you over to the wolves.”
With that, he stormed away.
Chapter One
“You know, it would be good for you to get out of Rivermont,” her mother said.
Charlotte stared straight ahead. She was not happy with the prospect of taking beauty classes at the local college. She had also spoken with Kristin Shaw, who owned the local beauty salon. She’d gotten some part-time work that would go with her courses.
She loved education. Learning was a lot of fun, but she had also come to realize that English, Science, Math, and all the other courses in between were boring. Sure, she didn’t mind learning about them, but so far, she couldn’t think of a single instance where she would want to take them to the next level. Going to college, getting a degree in something, and then finding a job and career path for the rest of her life sounded so freaking daunting.
She couldn’t help but think about Maeve, who did at one time have a social media channel, and she might have a bit of a girl crush, because she was one of the nicest women she had ever met. And Charlotte had met a lot of women. With her dad being the Prez of Chaos Monsters MC, she saw a lot of women at the clubhouse
At first, she had thought that was why her parents had divorced—that her father was cheating. During an argument, when her parents didn’t even realize she was in the house, she discovered her mother was the cheating one in the relationship. That was quite a shock.
She had also come to realize that her mother hated Rivermont Ridge and was doing everything she could to try and leave. Including getting her daughter to leave and find a college completely out of town and out of state.
There was only one problem. Charlotte loved this town. It still had memories of her little brother before he passed, and there were good memories, as well as bad. She loved being near her father. Regardless of what Nancy thought, she loved her dad and the club. She felt safe when she was there.
She also knew it was probably because there was an unspoken rule about “hands off the Prez’s daughter,” or whatever, but she didn’t care. This was home to her.
“Mom, please stop,” Charlotte said. “I like it here. I want to follow this path.”
“But don’t you think it is boring, putting makeup on people and, well, making them look pretty?” Nancy asked.
She knew her mother meant well, but Nancy was a master manipulator. Charlotte was not easily fooled.
