“If it weren’t for you, he’d still be alive, you lying bitch. But ghost or not, Matt definitely has a better dick than your brother.” Her lips curve into an amused smile as she says the last part.

I slam my fist into her face, causing her neck to snap back. The corners of her lips are now stained red. She runs her palm over that spot, cleaning the wound. My knuckles burn and my bones feel like they’re about to break. It hurts like hell, but I’d do it again. In fact, I plan to do it again soon.

“Watch your mouth when you speak about my family,” I hiss.

“I’m going to make sure I send you to hell with your father.”

Her words stun me for a moment. They remind me of what Lance told us about the broken brakes they found in the car. It’s not until I feel her body lunge at mine and her nails graze my cheek that I come back to reality. Angrier than before because of my new suspicions.

My back hits the floor with a thud, but with adrenaline of the moment I barely feel the pain and I dodge her blows. I get on top of her. She covers her face with her arms and I take the opportunity to grab a handful of her hair and pull it hard. I shake her head from side to side with rage as she writhes, trying to get rid of me. No one tries to separate us. They just stand on the sidelines shouting at us to break it up or perhaps enjoying the show. Neither of us has any intention of giving in to the other.

Some arms grab me from behind and pull me away from her just as I’m about to slam her head into the ground. Josh approaches Romina and holds her by the waist, preventing her from lunging at me again. I kick and struggle in the arms of the stranger, punching him in the chin. Josh doesn’t fare much better, as Romina manages to get the perfect angle to kick him in the balls and gain her freedom. As soon as she tries to grab a handful of my red hair, another of the boys stops her, whispering something in her ear.

“Let me go!” I shout, writhing violently. “I swear I’ll kill her. Let me go right now!” The man turns around and starts walking with me to the car.

“Stop. You look like a rabid dog,” Sergei mutters wearily.

He grabs my waist with one arm while opening the truck door with his free hand. Then he throws me into the passenger seat and restrains me with the seatbelt. Whatever he sees on my face afterwards makes his face lose colour.

I take one last look at the front of the house behind the tree I'm trying to hide, exhaling the smoke from my cigarette in an annoyed puff. A day has passed and I can still taste her pussy on my tongue, mingling with the taste of tobacco. I don’t understand why she’s still mad with me.

Tired of waiting for her to return to her parents’ house I take out my cell phone and unlock the screen. Before I can access the location tracker, a call notification pops up on the screen. I press the green button and put the phone to my ear as I take one last drag.

“Something happened to Lena,” Sergei murmurs on the other end.

The fingers holding the phone begin to tremble slightly as I try to keep my anger in check.

“What did you say?” The night breeze is no longer cold as it meets the heat of my anger on my skin.

“It’s no big deal. She got into a fight with a girl,” he says, cutting himself off. “I couldn’t separate them in time and she got a small scratch. It didn’t even leave a mark or anything. The other one was much worse off.”

“Worse than you’re going to be? I highly doubt it,” I hiss, ending the call without even listening to his pathetic excuses for not doing his damn job right.

I look over my shoulder as a car approaches. It’s Ray’s car. This one is a new model though. The stress of having to return to her bedroom before she does keeps my heart rate at its peak. My years of experience sneaking into her room allow me to enter without making a sound. Just as I close the window of the small terrace, I hear the front door slam shut.

The only problem I’ve always seen with her bedroom is that the bed is never big enough for me to hide under. That’s not very convenient for my back. The wardrobe is not better.

My feet move on their own to her dressing room. I choose the first section I see before the door opens. The sound of her platform boots walking drowns out my heavy breathing.

“Were you trying to kill her?” Her brother’s mocking voice sounds slightly distorted from where I am.

“If that idiot Sergei hadn’t pulled me away, believe me I would have,” she says angrily.

My chest fills with a tingling sensation as I imagine her on my bed, a blanket of blood covering her naked body. Being surrounded by her fragrance makes my dick hardens until an involuntary moan escapes my lips.

“Who?” Jason’s confused voice distracts me from wanting to bury my head in her clothes and suffocate myself with her scent.

No one in her family knows about Sergei’s existence, or rather, his imminent non-existence. It will come in hand for me to get him into Ray’s office to grab the papers Kristoff wants. That would be enough to get him off my back for a while.

“No one.” Her boots move to the other side of the room, where her desk is. “I’m tired.”

The silence that follows lasts until a small kiss interrupts it. The idea of going out and throwing her brother’s body out the window sounds better every time.

“Thanks.” I clench my fists even tighter, turning my knuckles white, when Jason’s voice echoes through the room again.

“You would have done the same for me.”
