Reeves moved toward the screens.

“Send a team.”

“Checkpoint Four is closest,” the technician said.

Madow’s gaze moved to the feed from that position.

Two guards stood beneath the shelter, rifles slung across their chests.

“Contact them,” Reeves ordered.

The technician keyed the radio.

“Checkpoint Four, report.”

Static answered.

He tried again.

“Checkpoint Four, report.”

No response.

The technician looked up.

His face had gone pale.

Two miles from Black Site Theta, a guard lay face down in the snow.

Alive.

Unconscious.

Finished with the fight.

Nearby, his partner sat secured against a tree with his own restraints. Tape covered his mouth.

Black Site Theta rose ahead of us.

Concrete.

Steel.

Guard towers.
