Sarah looked at Wade’s photograph one more time.
For five years, she had hunted alone.
That had changed.
She had Shadow Division now.
She had Rook.
The realization should have frightened her.
Instead, for the first time in years, Sarah didn’t feel alone.
20
ROOK
Nobody slept.
Too much had happened.
Cutter’s harbor had been attacked.
Marcus Lane had escaped.
The Northern Star burned inside the cannery inlet.
Three captured mercenaries waited in separate reinforced rooms.
The dead attackers had been photographed, fingerprinted, and moved into a refrigerated fish-storage building at the edge of Cutter’s property. They couldn’t remain on the docks, but Cutter refused to dispose of them or destroy evidence.
Sooner or later, authorities would descend on the harbor.
Before that happened, Shadow Division needed names.
The storm continued hammering the metal walls.
Coffee brewed.
Monitors glowed.
The clock moved past three in the morning.
Nobody cared.
Rook stood beside Fathom’s workstation with his arms crossed.
Lines of data raced across the screens.
Fathom hadn’t stopped digging.
Every deleted file.
Every corrupted report.
Every hidden archive recovered from the cargo ship.
He tore through them all.
