“What?”

Fathom pointed toward the screen.

A familiar room appeared.

Steel walls.

Metal desk.

Rows of evidence boxes.

The hidden compartment aboard the cargo ship.

The room where they found the photograph.

A timestamp glowed in the corner.

FORTY-EIGHT HOURS EARLIER

The door opened.

A woman stepped inside.

Black tactical clothing.

Black gloves.

Dark baseball cap.

Nobody spoke.

She crossed the compartment without searching.

Without hesitating.

As though she had been there before.

She walked directly to the metal desk and removed something from her jacket.

The photograph.

Rook’s stomach tightened.

She placed it carefully on the desk.

Then she turned it over and wrote five words across the back.

I TRIED TO SAVE THEM.

Sniper released a slow breath.

“She knew we were coming.”

“Yes,” Fathom said.

“Where did you get this recording?” Rook asked.

“The hidden compartment had its own surveillance system. Separate power supply. Local storage.”
