Without the city, the sky seemed impossibly large.
Chrissy stood near the terrace edge.
I came behind her but didn’t touch her.
“You’re quiet.”
“I’m thinking.”
“That sounds dangerous.”
She glanced back.
“That’s my line.”
“You’ve used it often enough.”
Then she turned fully toward me.
Her hands went to my chest.
I waited.
Chrissy rose onto her toes and kissed me.
Her mouth opened over mine, and when I put my hands on her waist, she caught my wrists.
“Not yet.”
I stopped.
She looked up at me.
“I want to do something.”
Every muscle in my body tightened.
“What?”
Her fingers moved to the buttons of my shirt.
“This.”
She undid the first.
Then she undid the next.
I stayed still.
By the time the shirt opened, her breathing had changed.
Chrissy pushed the fabric from my shoulders.
Her hands slid over my chest.
“I wanted to do this last night.”
“I remember.”
