“Why offer the private suite?”

“It’s quieter. It also gives you direct access to the residential meeting area if we work late.”

I checked tomorrow’s seven-thirty start time and thought about losing two hours a day in traffic.

“I’ll take the guest suite.”

His expression didn’t change much.

But something flashed in his eyes.

“You’re certain?”

“No, but I’m certain I don’t want a two-hour commute.”

One eyebrow lifted.

I smiled.

His entire face changed.

It didn’t make him softer.

It made him even more attractive.

“I’ll have someone show you the rooms,” he said.

“And my suitcase?”

“It’s still with guest services downstairs.”

“I’d like to move it myself.”

“Of course.”

I hesitated.

“Although if there are stairs involved, I reserve the right to reconsider.”

“There are no stairs involved.”

“Excellent. I’ve reached the point in international travel where escalators feel ambitious.”

His low laugh followed me out of the meeting room.
