Tyche’s shoulders immediately slumped. “Pfft…who knows? I said that ’cause I thought it sounded impressive.” He tipped his face up toward Shey. “Did it?”
Shey smiled. “Very.”
“Ugh. Kaes. He appeared after I’d gotten Yesuntei’s sarira out of Haru. The dragon was still flat on his back with a hole in his gut. Kaes wanted the sarira, and giving it to him seemed as bad as giving it to Cirina, so I merged it with my powers.”
“Yet, it wasn’t enough. Kaes attacked, threatening you, me, Haru, Adrian, and all of Sirelis. You merged the God of Accidents’ powers with the others to fight off Kaes.”
Tyche snickered. “Please don’t make me sound noble. I was scared and pissed. Tired of being bullied by that asshole. Tired of being the helpless little guy. But now I’ve got this mess of powers and no idea how to use them. All I know is that I don’t want to kill you, Adrian, or Haru.” He paused, and his face scrunched up. “Well, I don’t want to kill anyone, but I especially don’t want to kill you—”
Shey swooped in and crushed his mouth to Tyche’s, swallowing the rest of what he was going to say. Tyche had been through so much, had lived through so much terror. Shey couldn’t hold it in any longer. He wanted some small way to show Tyche he wasn’t alone anymore. That Shey didn’t care what he was or his magic. He simply cared about the man under all of that.
Tyche hummed and kissed him, leaning into it as if he couldn’t get enough of Shey. The kiss stretched on until another icy wind swept through the city, causing them both to shiver. Shey broke off the kiss with a giggle.
He lifted a hand and cupped Tyche’s cheek. “Feel better?”
“Actually, I do. But…”
“What?”
“You’re not…scared or freaked out?”
“About you? Not even a little.”
Tyche sighed deeply, his body sinking several inches into a slump. “Good.”
Shey caught his hand and threaded their fingers together. “How about I show you a way to relax and completely forget about all this for a while?”
The corner of Tyche’s mouth tipped up into a half smile. “Are you making a pass at me, Your Highness?”
Shey stood and pulled Tyche to his feet. “Maybe I want to see if I can make a god moan my name.”
He had a lot more planned than making Tyche moan, but his little god was only going to figure that out after Shey got him in bed.
TWENTY-TWO
TYCHE
Tyche let Shey pull him into the bedroom, laughing like a lunatic as he tripped along behind him while clinging to his hand. As if that sexy prince was going to release him. He saw that wolfish expression. Shey had dirty thoughts filling his mind. Tyche didn’t need magical powers to see that.
Sure, the thought of doing anything besides kissing made Tyche’s heart flop about in his chest like a landed fish, but he was also curious. If kissing was this amazing, other things would have to be even better, right? Humans were positively addicted to sex, and not just for reasons of procreation. They did it for fun. To relieve stress. To relieve boredom.
After all these years, it was time for him to try this out, and he couldn’t imagine doing anything so intimate with anyone other than Shey.
Once in the grand bedroom with the four-poster bed and rich dark-blue canopy, Shey released his hand and dropped onto the bench that sat at the foot of the bed. He worked off his fancy boots. The Crown Prince of Caspagir had spent the day working in a fancy dress uniform now that he was in the palace and dealing with the military.
“Wait.” The word broke from Tyche’s lips, and Shey froze, his eyes wide.
“Second thoughts? I don’t want to pressure you into anything.”
Tyche grinned and shook his head. “No, I mean…slow is appreciated. I want to experience everything, but not all at once.”
Shey narrowed his eyes at Tyche, and a sly smile twisted up the corners of his mouth. “Are you using me to experiment with sex?”
“What? No!”
Shey gasped and pressed the back of his hand to his forehead, exclaiming in faux horror. “The sexy God of Chaos is using me for my body. Whatever shall I do?”
“Good grief. You’re an idiot. I’m not using you for your body, but for your experience. If I’m going to be with someone, I’d like to know they are knowledgeable about what they’re doing.”
