I nodded. “Yeah, just wish you lived here instead of back there.”
He let out a small laugh. “You know, sometimes I think about moving up here.”
I released him and met his gaze. “Really?”
He nodded. “Yeah, but… I don’t think Dad and Pops would like it much, so I haven’t done anything about it.”
“Key, if you want to move up here, you should do it. I’d love to have you as a neighbor. It would be awesome.”
Hugo moved over and added, “Oh my god, yes. That would be so awesome, Key. You gotta do it.”
Kian laughed, gave Hugo a small hug, patted my shoulder, and nodded toward Phia, who was already standing beside our portal shed. “Not sure it’ll happen. Phia loves living where she is now, so I might end up moving into her place.”
My eyebrows rose. “What? No way. You can’t live off coven land unless Granddad and Grandpa do a shit-ton of warding work on the place. You really think that’ll go over well?”
I wasn’t sure I liked the fact that it sounded like Phia wanted to take Kian away from his family. I didn’t like that at all.
Sure, I lived off coven land, but that had taken… a lot of convincing and rules and wards and all kinds of shit. Would she really be okay with my family doing all of that to her place? Her land?
From her spot by the shed, Phia called out, “What are you talking about, Key? I thought we were going to move into your place once we’re ready?” Apparently, nymphs had better hearing than I realized.
Kian smiled so wide at her I was surprised he didn’t blind the sun. “Really?”
She nodded, smiling, and looking genuine for once. “Definitely.”
My brother threw his arms up into the air in triumph. “Yessss! That’s amazing. I love you, Phia.”
She giggled. “Love you too, tiger boy.”
Kian shot me a huge grin before he ran over to her, picked her up, twirled her around while she giggled, then waved at us and disappeared into the shed.
“Well…” I shook my head. “That was… something.”
“It sure was.” Hugo put an arm around my back and rested his head on my shoulder. “Wanna go inside?”
There was a tone in his voice I didn’t recognize, so I glanced down at him to find him grinning goofily up at me. “What?”
He chuckled. “This is the first time we’ve had the house to ourselves in weeks. No one else is coming over until the morning.”
My eyes widened. “Holy shit, you’re right.”
He smacked my butt and took off running toward the back door. “Race ya to the bedroom.”
With a huge laugh, I ran after him, definitely planning on catching him.
The second my hands touched his hips and Hugo let out a loud laugh, my incubus magic decided to join the party.
Black shadowy tendrils burst from my body and began wrapping their way around Hugo’s arms, legs, and torso as I threw him over my shoulder and smacked his ass.
Only a few months ago, I would’ve been freaking out if my incubus magic came out around someone, let alone began touching them. But lately, I’d started to embrace it.
When I realized how much Hugo loved all of me, including my incubus side, including my incubus magic, I finally began letting go… a little. But when I truly understood just how much Hugo enjoyed being touched by my magic, I finally felt like I could accept it and even welcome it in whenever we had sex, and even sometimes when we were only cuddling.
Right now, I could feel Hugo’s body already trembling with need, and I hadn’t even made it through the bedroom door yet. My incubus tendrils apparently felt really good against his skin, and the thought made me grin.
Hugo tended to act like I was the only one bringing a lot to our relationship, but he clearly didn’t realize how much he’d already given me in the short time we’d known each other.
I felt lighter. I felt more comfortable in my skin.
