“We sure know how to have fun together,” Morgan finally said, rolling to face him.

He slid his arm around her and tucked her in at his side, enjoying how her curves fit against him. “Most definitely. I think we’ve also learned a few things.”

“Things we might like to do again?” She rested her chin on his chest.

“God, I hope so.”

“I wish we had more time together.” She trailed her fingertip along his bare chest. “I hope that doesn’t sound too needy.”

“It doesn’t.”

And it still didn’t when the time to leave Pine River Cottages Mountain Resort arrived. They’d spent a good chunk of their time together in the cottage, getting more . . . creative, but they’d also squeezed in a little time with other guests, having cocoa and snacks by a fire pit where Isabel’s grandfather, Eugene, had stoked a huge fire. Though the air had been winter crisp, the fire, the cocoa, and the company had kept them plenty warm. The charm of the resort made them both feel as if they’d stepped out of their real lives into a place where only good times and happiness were served.

Sawyer absolutely did not want to leave. From the way Morgan had her arms wrapped around his as they walked toward a car waiting to take them to the airport, he’d say she didn’t want to go either.

Isabel jogged out from the main office when they reached the car. “So nice to see both of you. And, Sawyer, thank you so much for allowing my guests to badger you for photos and autographs. It got the resort a ton of positive press.”

“No problem,” he said. “They were all so nice.”

“Well, of course.” Isabel put her hands on her hips. “I only let nice people stay here. It’s one of our rules.” She hugged them both. “I do wish to see you both again. I told Jackson you were here and he’s sorry he missed you.”

“How is his dig going?” Morgan asked.

“Fabulously.” Isabel puffed up her chest. “But that’s because my hot archeologist is in charge of the operation.”

“Biased much?” Sawyer teased.

“Extremely.” Isabel reached over and opened the back door of the waiting car. “Safe travels, my friends. Tell everyone you know about Pine River Cottages Mountain Resort.”

“Will do.” Sawyer let Morgan get in the back seat first then he slid in next to her.

“Airport, yes?” the driver asked.

“Yes,” they both mumbled.

The driver turned to face them more fully. “Are you sure? That answer didn’t have much conviction behind it.”

“You ever have so much fun that returning to the real world seems unbearable?” Morgan asked with a dramatic flair that would have made her movie star brother proud.

“I have and it sucks.” The driver offered a sympathetic smile. “But there’s always the next fun time to look forward to, right?”

“Right.” Sawyer slid his arm around Morgan. “Especially when the lady is paying next time.”

Morgan lightly punched him in the side.

They rode huddled together in the back seat, chatting about Sawyer’s upcoming game, about how they were still both craving foods with maple in the description, about Nia, about being a triplet, about fame. About everything they could fit into a ride to the airport.

Which wasn’t enough. Not even close.

The driver dropped them off and they entered the airport, holding hands as if they were afraid of losing each other.

“Are you sure I can’t fly you back to Rhode Island?” Morgan gestured to Austin’s private jet at the gate where Sawyer had walked her.

“I’ll be too tempted to drag you off the plane with me.” Sawyer placed his hands on her hips and drew her closer to brush a light kiss to her lips.

“But you’re not staying in Rhode Island,” she said. “You’ll be home for like a millisecond then you’ll be off to your game in Minnesota.”

“And you can’t come to my game because you have to go to that charity thing in New York for your brother.”
