I rubbed both of the twins’ shoulders and they calmed.

Little bad asses, kidnapping people’s daughters.

And as I soothed them. . .two names had arrived inside me the way a song filled a room.

"Raijin." I said it out loud without meaning to.

The doctor turned to me. "I'm sorry?"

"Raijin." I touched one twin and then the second. "Fūjin. Those are their. . .names. . .well. . .maybe. Hiro will decide."

Why did those names come to me?

The doctor's eyebrows lifted slowly. "Those are perfect names."

"Are they?"

"Raijin is the god of thunder. Fūjin is the god of wind. They are divine brothers.”

A nurse had already been gathering the samples. She must have come over during the vision. Now she nodded and picked them up. “In every old painting where Raijin appears, Fūjin appears with him."

I thought about it.

Deja put up her gun. “Girl you have my nerves going crazy. Stop screaming.”

“Sorry.” I looked down at the two small bodies curled into each other.

Gods of storm and wind.

Even more. . .I thought the damn visions would only be from the past, but it appeared that I could see some things in the future. I just wondered if I would ever get control of this and understand why they came at certain times.

“Crazy ass.” Deja headed back to her spot and returned to her conversation with the remaining nurses and now. . .one of my guards.

Oh wow. Now Deja is doing a TED Talk for men too.

The guard actually raised his hand letting her know he had a question.

I couldn’t wait to see what the man wanted to ask.

The door opened.

One of the Silent Ones hurried in and pointed at Deja. A deep voice left the shadowed hood. “We need you.”

Deja touched the top of Betty Boop. “Now who the hell are you? What is up with this island?”

I slowly rose. “Deja, they’re friends.”

“Come.” The Silent One gestured, turned around, and disappeared into the doorway.

Deja stared that way. “Man, I’m not going anywhere with some hooded guy. I can’t even tell the police what the motherfucker looked like—”

“No.” I headed that way. “You’ve got to go. It could be about Rin.”

At the mention of his name, Deja’s whole expression changed to absolute horror and concern. That was when I knew for a fact that my girl had fallen in love.

Oh, shit. Rin really bagged her.

Without saying a word, Deja headed out.
