CHAPTER SIX
Sofia
We come back to earth slowly.
Hearts decelerating. Breathing evening out. Mist on our skin evaporating.
We lie side by side on my bed as my brain relives every glorious moment of sex with Rossi, and I bask in the bliss before the feeling inevitably dissipates.
Right up until I shift and realize how wet the bed is.
Oh my God. My cheeks heat. Just after sex when you’ve been with someone new is awkward enough, and now I have to navigate the fact that I—
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to—”
“For?” His voice is sex-drugged and is a whole seduction in itself.
I shift in the bed, pluck at the wet sheet, and die a little inside of embarrassment. “This,” I say quietly.
“What was that?” Rossi asks as he turns on his side and props his head on his hand. I can feel the weight of his stare and see him smirk in my periphery, but I don’t dare look his way. “Simply Sofia, what did you just apologize for?”
I want to die a thousand deaths. “This. How wet everything is.” I pluck at the sheet again without fully processing how I climaxed like that when that has never happened to me before.
And of course, it happens with Rossi.
He leans forward and presses a kiss to my lips. “And I’ve never slept with a teammate’s sister before so we’re both embarking on new territory here. Either that or I’m just that good.”
“Oh Jesus.” I roll my eyes and press against his bare chest but more than grateful for his playfulness that immediately eases the awkwardness.
“I mean”—he cuffs my wrist with his hand and then shifts to straddle my hips in seconds— “I am that good.” There’s no way to avoid Oliver Rossi or staring at him regardless of how uncharted this territory is. He’s buck naked and his cock may be resting on my stomach, but his eyes are on me, and his hands are holding mine so I can’t hide. “And that was fucking hot. Hands down. Don’t apologize for a goddamn second.”
I close my eyes and force myself to own the feeling and the moment. I have never been so well . . . fucked. Clearly, Sofia. But how? How did he make that happen? Because it felt incredible. And I want it again, if I’m honest.
His lips find mine in the darkness. They linger and tease and my body is so oversensitive from sex that every touch feels like it’s amplified.
“I do believe you just made me more obsessed with you because of it.”
“Obsessed with me?”
“Mmm,” he says against my lips before rolling off me again and sprawling beside me. “Definitely obsessed.”
I sigh and let my eyes close. Obsessed. In a sense, isn’t that almost what I’ve been when it comes to Rossi? I looked before but I never touched because he was in the periphery of my world. A different team. A different garage. Sure there was an added mystery to him because of it. Add that to my brother’s warning and it created more curiosity than anything.
I haven’t had a chance to see what it means this year with him being my brother’s new teammate. And this—us sleeping together—definitely wasn’t on my bingo card.
“Why’d you agree to Gravitas?”
He belts out a laugh. “Your pillow talk needs some work, Navarro.”
“Even footing,” I mutter.
“There’s that term again. Is this something you do when you get nervous? Get back to the status quo to calm yourself?” He hooks his calf over my shin. “And why are you nervous in the first place? We’re two consenting adults. We find each other attractive. We wanted each other. We acted on it.”
“You wouldn’t understand.”
“What I understand is that the warning your brother gave you about me must mean more to you than your own opinion does.”
“No. It’s not that.”
