Sofia
Rossi stares at me, his eyes daring me to stop and begging me to initiate whatever this madness is between us.
My brother’s warnings are long forgotten. My sensibility is riding shotgun with it. Every protest I should wage dies an unceremonious death as I stare at the man I’ve hoped I’d have from the first minute I saw him this weekend.
Make him work for it.
Thanks, Lilith, because that seems really comical about now.
“Rossi . . . I—”
“Simply Sofia from Spain.” The timbre of his voice ghosts over my skin like a feather—building anticipation. Daring me. “Just give me one night.”
My chest constricts at the words. At the empty promise in them. At the unspoken allure to them. “That’s all there can be,” I whisper. “After tonight, I’m no longer this woman. I’m no longer—her. I can’t be.” How could he ever understand?
But he nods. His eyes meet mine with a quiet comprehension that both unnerves me and emboldens me.
“Then be her tonight.”
“But what about—”
“Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.”
Our breaths mingle in the small space between us, thick with desire and uncertainty. The ache of wanting him, of needing him, overwhelms any rational thought.
“We shouldn’t for so many reasons,” I add.
He laughs. It’s so quiet but I hear every sound. “You’re talking entirely too much, Sofia.” He brushes my hair back off my forehead. “You chased after me. What are you going to do about it?” He leans in and brushes his mouth to mine, this time without his thumb in the way. It’s the gentlest brush of lips. A moment of calm amid our turbulent desire. “Because I know what I want.”
“What’s that?” I challenge as my body aches.
“Sweet Sofia, if I tell you, then I just might scare you away.” He chuckles.
I hold tight to my bravado, to my desire, and lean my lips close to his ear. “Then show me.”
I turn on my heel and head to the house at our backs. I add an extra swish to my hips, knowing Lilith isn’t coming back tonight and I won’t be walking inside alone.
The minute the door is unlocked and pushed open, Rossi has me spun around so that both his lips and his hands can feast on me and my body.
“I wasn’t walking away this time. There was no choice in the matter. There never has been,” he says, each sentence accentuated by another kiss that overwhelms my senses. “I’m going to fuck you, Sofia. I’m going to let you walk on that wild side. And we’re going to enjoy every goddamn second.”
He slams the door at his back and then cups both sides of my face as he dips his head down for another kiss.
One packed with urgency and need. With desire and fervor.
The world around us fades away. There’s only Rossi, only this moment of raw intensity that consumes us both. His hands on my skin. His fingertips skimming ever so lightly over me has chills racing down my spine, igniting a fire deep within me that threatens to consume everything in its path.
I welcome its burn.
How can something I’ve been told is so wrong feel so incredibly right?
He leans back and chuckles. “I guess dreams do come true,” he murmurs.
In your fucking dreams, Rossi.
Leave it to him to make right now about proving a point. “Fuck you,” I whisper without any heat.
“That’s the plan,” he says and then slants his lips over mine yet again.
