We connect in quiet sighs and unhurried touches. Our lips are languorous, our bodies in constant contact.
“Sofia?” Our eyes meet. He reaches out and rubs his thumb over my bottom lip. “I love you.”
Everything stops. My breath. My hand moving on his back. My heart. And then the biggest smile crawls over my lips as I’m filled with an incredible warmth that isn’t from our bodies connecting.
I lift my head up and brush my lips over his. “Took you long enough.” I chuckle. “I love you too, Ollie. I’ve been in love with you for some time.”
He leans back and looks at me, his cheeks flush and the cutest smile ever on his lips. Almost as if he can’t believe this is happening.
“I’m a little overwhelmed, Sof.” Another kiss. Another meeting of our eyes. And then he pushes into me in one steady stroke, our fingers linking and our moans desirous. It’s a dance of familiarity. We know each other’s bodies. We know what the other likes. And in this murmured silence, we do our best to give to the other.
A lift of my hips here. A brush of his thumb there. The warmth of his mouth on my skin. The scrape of my nails down his jaw.
It’s a slow build of pressure. Of pleasure. Of trust. All three things we’re used to but after tonight, I feel like have been solidified in a way I’ve never experienced before.
I’m Oliver Rossi’s. Completely.
My body. My heart. My soul.
And the way he makes love to me, the gentle demand, the quiet encouragement, and the murmured sexiness, tells me he feels the same.
And when that slow build can’t stay contained, when the coil it’s slowly turning snaps, I come undone.
Pulse by blissful pulse around him. Wave after wave of sensation.
It’s his lips on mine that encourage, that coax, that overwhelm.
And it’s his cry of my name when he comes that tells me all I need to hear.
He loves me.
He. Loves. Me.
CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR
Sofia
“It’s not the same,” I call out to my phone. It’s on the counter and Lilith is on speaker. Leave it to me to forget to charge my AirPods. But we need to catch up and this allows us to do that while I keep my hands free to keep working.
“I don’t understand though. You could have hired people to do all this for you, just as easily, so why are you doing it yourself?” she asks.
“Because I want to. Because if this succeeds, I want it to be because of me and—”
“Because your boyfriend is kickass and gave you the best surprise ever.”
I know. He did. I glance at the empty space at the back of the gallery. The wall I’ve dedicated to Midnight Madness and where every necessary security requirement has been placed.
“I still can’t believe it.”
“I can. That man had it bad for you from the first moment he saw you and he hasn’t let up since. Don’t let that one get away.”
I won’t. I think the words but don’t say them.
“And no name for it yet?”
I open my mouth and close it. “I’ve narrowed it down some.”
“Well at least you’re getting somewhere.”
