“I saw Rossi at the bakery.”

“And?” he prompts cautiously.

“It was hard. I played it off why I was in town, but . . . it was hard.”

“I’m secure enough in who I am and whatever this is between us for you to say you miss him.”

My smile stutters. “I do . . . but for silly things. For nostalgic things. Not for the relationship part.”

“Okay. I can understand that.”

“It was just . . . a lot. Heavy.”

“Sounds like it.”

“And it also made me realize that if we plan on being discreet, that I can’t come here. This town’s too small. Too many people see things. Gossip. Especially with you being you. So that might pose a problem.”

“Then we go to your place,” he says matter of fact.

I chuckle disbelievingly. “My place is nowhere as nice as this.”

“Do you think I give a shit? So long as you’re there, that’s all that matters.”

“Rossi hated going there.”

“Well, Rossi is a pompous prick who forgot what mattered most.”

“Perhaps.”

“Lucky for me then,” he says as his hands find their way to my hips and his fingers dig in as I also feel his cock pulse against my core. “Hey, Blair?”

“Hmm?”

“Open the cupboards.” He brushes his lips against mine. “Search my closets.” Another. “Grill my housekeeper when you meet her.” Our tongues touch this time and all I want is more. “I don’t fucking care.”

“You don’t have to say that—”

“And the shower part?” He meets my eyes as he shifts beneath me, showing me just how quickly he’s become hard. “Morning. And night. And I think right now is a perfect time to give you a personal tour of it.”

“A tour?”

“There’s a seat in there.”

“For shaving legs?” I ask as we stand and he takes my hand in his.

“No. For riding me.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Blair

My to-do list is a million miles long and the days are counting down to the gala. A classic case of too much to do and not enough time to do it in.

And a major case of the best weekend ever that I can’t stop reliving in my head over and over.

Skylar’s high-pitched squeal is still ringing in my ears from our conversation earlier. From her excitement over me and Lachlan and what she called was me being unmistakably smitten.

I stare out the window, a soft smile ghosting my lips and so many memories dancing around in my head.
