“I’m sorry Mr. Popov. I didn’t catch that.” Because I had been thinking about how it would feel to have you touch me, I added silently.
“I need you to stay later tonight.”
Without meaning to, I glanced down at the smart watch on my wrist. It was already six, and I had Valentine’s night plans. I opened my mouth to tell him that and quickly shut it again. Daniil Popov was not the kind of man you told no.
Forcing my lips to curve into a polite smile, I nodded. “Of course. What do you need from me, sir?”
The tip of his tongue appeared to wet his lips. “My office needs cleaning, and I need some dry cleaning picked up. Also, there’s a reservation made for me at La Machines for eight. I need you to bring that dry cleaning to me. Is that understood?”
“I am not a cleaner,” I began to say and snapped my lips shut. I might not be a cleaning lady, but I was acting as his personal assistant right now. “Yes, Mr. Popov, of course.” I amended quickly with a bright smile, but inside I felt like crying.
This was the only night this week that Greg was free, and I’d planned it all out, right down to the sexy lingerie I was wearing under my clothes. My plan had been to seduce my boyfriend and put the spark back in our relationship. It hadn’t been to clean my boss’s office and be an errand girl.
It was like he could read my mind. “Unless you have other, more pressing plans, Miss Ridgeway?”
“No, of course not. I was just going to spend time with my partner.”
His eyebrow shot up. The look of surprise made him look instantly younger. “Partner?”
“Boyfriend,” I amended quickly.
“Well—”
Damn, there went his fingers hypnotising me again.
“Boyfriends can wait. I, on the other hand, cannot. If you like your job, you will see that it is done. Is that clear?”
Mouth dry, I nodded my head. “Crystal, sir.”
He nodded once, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Good girl.”
I almost moaned. Mortified, with a red tinge heating my cheeks, I straightened. “I will make sure it’s done.”
He nodded once. “Good.”
Thank God, he didn’t add a girl to that good because I would have probably melted on the spot. It really had been too long since I’d seen some real action. And mundane missionaries with the lights out weren’t what I was talking about.
“Oh, and Miss Ridgeway,” Daniil hesitated for just a second, his almost black eyes appraising me, “I would appreciate it if you didn’t use company time to send emails to your boyfriend.” His lip sneered at the word, like he had never been young and in love. “I’m not paying you a good wage to,” he rolled his lips, “arrange your love life.”
Open-mouthed, I watched him walk away, and by God, his back was almost as perfect as his front. The second he was gone, I fell into my chair and dropped my head into my hands. Well, as the first meeting went, it had been interesting. It could have gone better. Without meaning to, I glanced at the screen, where the email to my boyfriend lay forgotten.
I would have to tell him I was going to be late. And worst of all, I wasn’t sure he would even care. My fingers flew over the keyboard and then froze.
Tonight didn’t have to be a complete disaster. Men liked to be teased, right? And I had the screeching red lacy underwear on under my office clothes. I could tease Greg a little and whet his appetite for what was to come later.
Leaning back, I looked around. It was completely empty. Everyone else had left hours ago. That meant I could take photos—sexy pictures—right here if I wanted to. Through the open office door, I caught sight of the light of New York beyond Daniil’s window, and an idea struck me.
If the mighty Daniil Popov wanted me to clean his office like a maid, then I might as well make use of that amazing view as a backdrop to my pictures. It would serve him right.
Doing a quick check of the floor and making sure the outer doors were locked, I stepped into the boss’s office. Everything was neat, not one thing out of place. There wasn’t one speck of dust on his glass and chrome desk. Everything was completely sterile.
Rolling my eyes, I stared out at the view for a second. He really was king of his castle from up here. No wonder he bossed everyone around like he was royalty. Not that it wasn’t hot because it was.
My core clenched as I remembered the way he looked at me when he called me a good girl. It was almost like he knew what I needed even before I did. Or maybe the lack of orgasms was just clear on my face.
Either way, I liked the demanding tone of his voice, even if I didn’t actually like doing as I was told. Curling my hand into the soft leather of his chair, I rolled it to the bamboo window. Positioning it just right, I settled myself into it.
If Daniil wanted me to clean his spotless office, I would give myself something to clean. Slowly, I unbuttoned my periwinkle blue blouse, flicking it to the side so the scarlet underwear was on full display. Bending my legs, I pulled my skirt up around my waist and parted my thighs.
