Ethan had a devilish grin plastered on his face as I tried to catch my breath. With two quick pecks to my lips, he slowly placed my leg back down. Taking a step back, he fixed himself as I did the same. I needed some damn paper towels to clean up the mess he caused me to make. Shit, I needed another double shot as well because he had my mind blown. I felt euphoric. It was literally the best feeling in the world.

As quickly as that feeling rushed over me, it faded just as fast when I noticed Rob walking in our direction. My body stiffened so bad that my damn back started hurting.

“What the fuck you up here doing?” he asked with his chest poked out.

His eyes were trained directly on me with the meanest scowl on his face. I could see the fire burning in his eyes and hear the venom laced in his words. Ethan took a step in front of me, blocking Rob’s view.

“The fuck you think she doing here? We chillin. What’s up?” He smirked.

I noticed that our section went from just the two of us to now seven. Duke stood off to the side, and the others I noticed were the guys who worked for Rob.

“Bitch, you come in my club and disrespect me by being hugged up with this cracka jack nigga.” Rob tried to look past Ethan to stare at me.

“Your club?” Ethan questioned, ignoring the racial slurs Rob had spit toward him.

“Yeah, muthafucka, my club.” Rob stepped forward.

Ethan smiled while pouring himself another shot. His eyes stayed trained on Rob as he drank.

“Who told you this was still your club?”

“The fuck you talkin about? I built this shit brick by brick. Muthafucka, you’re not welcomed here so get the fuck out before I have my niggas drag you out.” Rob stood with his chest puffed out.

“You bad now, huh?” Ethan chuckled in his face. “See, you got shit misconstrued, bruh. I own this shit.”

Say what? I thought to myself without looking at Ethan.

“Oh you own this shit?” Rob mocked him with a chuckle. “This white muthafucka comes up in my shit talkin’ like his white privilege gon shake sum up in here.” Rob looked back to his crew while laughing.

“Nah, no privilege needed bruh. And allow me to apologize and correct myself. We own this shit.” He wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

I literally stood confused because I had no idea what the hell he was talking about.

“Surprise,” he said, placing a kiss on my cheek.

Then he focused his attention back on Rob.

“Remember the papers I had you sign after you got your ass whooped? See, you couldn’t read ’em because your shit was on swole. Plus, I think you might’ve assumed they were divorce papers based on the conversation we had. Nah, I had my attorney draw up some paperwork stating that you were willingly signing over your club to me. Which means you revoked your rights of ownership. You did that shit in ink and blood, might I add.”

The look on Rob’s face was one I couldn’t read.

“I bought my lady out here tonight, so we could celebrate. We needed to christen the place before we did a complete makeover. You know,” he looked down at me, licking his lips.

That gesture made me tuck my lips in to suppress my smile.

“You thought I was playing a game with yo’ ass, huh? What I tell you? I told you she was gonna be mine, didn’t I?”

I saw it coming, but before Rob could make a move, his men grabbed him back. All Ethan did was laugh in his face, which I knew pissed him off even further.

“Nah, he's good. Ain’t no need to hold him back.” He pulled his gun from his waistband.

“Now, before I have you escorted out of our club. Amore, you wanna tell him what you just told me?” Ethan looked down at me as he pulled me forward.

He caught me off guard by putting me on the spot. Rob’s eyes burned a fiery hole straight through me as he clenched his jaws, waiting for me to speak.

“Aye, it’s cool. He ain’t gon’ touch you. I dare him to even try, ever again.” He hooked my chin, speaking directly to me.

Ethan placed a kiss on my lips, and I saw the steam shoot from Rob’s ears. Sweat built up on his forehead, and behind all that anger he had shooting in my direction, I saw the hurt peeking through.
