We lay in silence for a moment, her eyes gazing into mine.
“I come with a lot of baggage, Ethan. I don’t think being addicted to me is such a good thing.”
“I’m not worried about any of that. I know what I want.”
Her smile made me smile. I knew we couldn’t push our situationship to the fullest extent until most of her problems were resolved. It was no rush for me. For Ava, I’d wait a lifetime. Why? Well, shit, from the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she was made just for me. Her heart was molded in a special way, and I held the key to that muthafucka. As of now, I’d only entered the key in the right place. I had yet to turn it and open her up completely. Once I did that, we’d be opening doors to a future so bright I could see it flash before my eyes. I was a patient man when I wanted to be. For Ava, I choose to be.
While I was being so patient, I was slowly reprogramming her mentally, physically, and emotionally. I was molding her into my woman while stripping her of the woman who was hurt and mistreated at the hands of a fuck boy. Her heart was pure but had several bruises that needed healing. I wanted to heal her. I wanted to be everything she deserved.
“What do you want?” she asked, pulling me from my thoughts.
“What do you think I want?” I questioned back.
Her eyes searched mine.
“Honestly, I don’t know,” she whispered. “But only time will tell, right?” She pecked my lips.
“Right,” I studied her face.
Her head rested on my chest as her fingers tapped lightly on my heart. “I love living in this moment with you.” She whispered.
“I love it too.”
The flight back home plus some bomb ass pussy had me drained. The sound of my phone ringing on the nightstand caused me to crack my eyes open. When I turned to my right, Ava’s side of the bed was empty. Behind the door, I heard cartoons playing, so I knew she must’ve been in the living area with Savannah. Sitting up, I grabbed my phone to see who was calling. It was Zenobia.
I got out of bed to take a piss. Then I hopped in the shower real quick before I brushed my teeth. By the time I finished, I had two more missed calls from Ze.
“What’s up?” I spoke when she answered.
“I’ve been calling you. I thought you were coming back home yesterday.”
“I did, I got in last night.”
“Oh… well, are you coming over? Zoie’s been asking about you.”
“I already talked to Zoie. And yeah, I’ll be over in a little bit, so make sure she’s ready,” I told her.
Leaving the room, the smell of food cooking drifted up my nostrils as I made my way down the hall.
“Let me hit you back, but I’ll be there within the hour,” I told her before disconnecting the call.
Zenobia had been on some weird shit lately. I knew damn well my daughter hadn’t been asking about me because she called me every day from her own phone. Zenobia was trying to make conversation and be nosey at the same damn time.
“Good morning, here’s breakfast. Lost track of time, but we had a ball.” Ava sang when I stepped into the kitchen.
That made me laugh as I pulled her into my arms before placing a kiss on her neck.
“Good morning, beautiful.” I caressed her ass. “I’m glad I got you up smiling and singing this morning. What you got going on in here?”
“I’m making omelets, something quick. This one is yours. Savannah already ate.”
“What we doing today?” I sat at the table.
“Um, I was going to take Savannah out to do a little something. What do you have in mind?” She placed my plate on the table in front of me.
“I’m going to pick up Zoie. I figured we could all go out somewhere together. That new aquarium opened last week, and Zoie has been bugging the hell outta me to take her.”
“I’m sure Savannah would love that.” She smiled.
