“Fine.” She smacked her lips.
Thankfully, my baby had fallen asleep and I prayed she stayed that way until I finished what I came to do. I had a metal baseball bat in the trunk. The gun Ace gave me, I made sure it was tucked and secured underneath my shirt. I didn’t plan to use it unless I had no other choice. I also planned to be in and out, until I noticed another car parked beside Rob’s. Even better. One thing about him, all the shit he’s done to me, he liked to do it behind closed doors. With company in the mix, plus my sister being with me, maybe my little pop up would go smoothly. He wouldn't dare cut up in front of his family and friends. I tucked my phone in my back pocket before singling out the house key on my key ring as I approached the porch. Surprisingly, the locks weren’t changed, but I would be making this visit my last time coming over.
Once I stepped inside, the sounds of Gracie’s Corner playing from the living room TV instantly caught my attention. With Savannah in the car, there shouldn’t be a reason why the kids’ channel would be playing. To my surprise, a beautiful chocolate little girl sat quietly on the couch with a sippy cup resting in her mouth as her eyes stayed glued to the TV. She looked to be at least four years old.
Diverting my eyes, I walked further into the living room toward a bassinet at the end of the couch. Finally, the little girl noticed me but didn’t say anything. Her big, brown eyes only stared at me with a cute grin. Inside the bassinet, a tiny baby laid swaddled in a blue blanket, sleeping peacefully. My heartbeat began to speed up inside my chest as I took in the features of the two kids in front of me.
“I know you fuckin lyin’.” I mumbled to myself.
My eyes burned with hot tears ready to fall, but I quickly dried them up. Ethan’s voice echoed in my head as I swallowed the emotions that didn’t need to surface. There was no sign of Rob or anyone else for that matter. Calmly, I walked around the house to find him but came up short until I reached what used to be our bedroom. With the door closed, I could hear the loud moaning, the squeaking, and knocking on the wall from the headboard. I could feel my throat closing up, causing me to struggle for air. I knew damn well this nigga didn’t have another woman in the house that we built for our family. Hearing her scream his name in pure ecstasy and him groan while expressing his love caused my blood to boil. All I could see was red as my hand tightened around the bat I held. I didn’t even bother to open the door. I had a trick for their asses, and it wasn’t magic.
This nigga had so much nerve to play with me like this. Treat me like shit for all those years and have the audacity to tell the next bitch he loved her. This nigga created a whole new family behind my back. The more all this shit registered in my mind, the more pissed I became. It all made sense now. The late nights, all the arguments he started for no reason as an excuse to leave the house.
This nigga had me thinking for the longest that there was something wrong with me. Had me feeling like I wasn’t up to par anymore to keep him satisfied, when all the while, he was just living a double life. I wondered how he treated the woman he was in the room with. Did he respect her? I wondered if it would be only a matter of time before the monster he really was showed his face to her. Of course, it would. I had to laugh to myself.
I was on a thin line of turning into Left Eye and Bernadine. I wanted to burn this bitch down with both of them inside. However, I couldn’t bring myself to do so with two little children in the living room. I searched around for the newborn baby’s car seat because I didn’t see one for the little girl. Carefully, I picked the baby up and strapped him in. He started to fuss a little, but I was glad he didn’t get too loud. I didn’t need my cover blown. The little girl watched me quietly as I placed a small blanket over her baby brother. Kneeling down, I got eye level with the little girl and smiled sweetly.
“Hi, I’m Ava. Do you like ice cream?” I asked.
She smiled back at me with her sippy cup still resting in her mouth.
“Come on. I’ll take you to get some while mommy and daddy take a nap.” I held my hand out.
At first, she didn’t move; she just stared at me. After about ten seconds, she finally placed her little hand in mine to help her up off the couch. I grabbed the baby seat and quietly took them outside. I really didn’t want to put them in the car with Savannah. Instead, I made sure the little girl was comfortable on the swinging chair that sat on the porch. I waved my arms in the air to get my sister's attention. Aja opened the door with confusion.
“Girl, who’s kids are those?”
I put my finger to my lips and nodded toward the door. Aja casually walked up to the porch, her eyes on the kids.
“Stay here and watch them.”
“I came to fuck some shit up, not babysit.” She rolled her eyes.
“They don’t need to be in the house.” I said, then quietly walked back inside.
I crept up to the room. The sounds of their lovemaking were so loud in my damn ear that I developed a headache. I hoped they got at least one good nut because I was about to rock their fuckin’ world. I burst through the door so fast they didn’t even know what was going on. With tunnel vision, I repeatedly swung the bat with all the strength I had in my body. They both scrambled around butt naked, trying to get away from me.
“Ava! Are you fuckin crazy?” Rob yelled at me.
I noticed his face was battered. Apparently, someone had recently whooped his ass. I wish I knew who it was because they did a great job. His face was so fucked up that I almost didn’t recognize him. Then, I noticed he had a cast on his left hand. Yeah, whatever happened to him fucked him up nicely. Now, it was my turn to add to the damage. Rob continued to yell and take cover but I ignored him and delivered a nice blow to ol girl's head. She was riding the hell out of my husband with no care in the world.
“Muthafucka are you crazy!? All these years you’ve been treating me like shit, and you’re telling another bitch you love her! You’ve been fuckin’ around on me and had kids behind my back! You dirty dick nigga!” I yelled back, still swinging the bat.
Rob hurriedly tried to throw on his basketball shorts while dodging blows. In the midst of us arguing, I heard the cries of the little girl all the way on the porch. I had left the front door open, so I was sure she heard all of the commotion going on, but I couldn’t care the less.
“Bitch, if you hit me with that bat again, I’ll kill yo’ ass! You scaring my daughter! Ava, get the fuck outta my house!” Rob continued to yell and keep distance between us.
“Your house? Nigga, fuck you! Fuck this house, fuck that bitch, and fuck those fuckin’ kids!”
Storming out of the room, I went through the house wrecking shit. All the loud noise and the glass breaking against the floor caused the little baby to start squealing. I didn’t give a fuck. At least they were safe outside. I was over it. Outside, Aja had started vandalizing Rob’s and his bitch’s car. She busted all their windows, and dented them muthafuckas up all the way around. My girl had all eight tires flattened. As I stood in the doorway, I could hear Rob yelling as he got closer to me. My back was slightly turned, so he couldn’t sneak up on me even if he wanted to. I charged toward him with the bat still in my hands as I attacked. Somehow, he was able to grab me, and body slammed my ass to the ground. The impact knocked the breath out of me. Rob hovered over my body, and I felt pressure around my neck.
Everything happened so fast but my sister was faster. Aja was on his ass like flies on shit. As soon as I got up off the ground, me and my sister went to work. From the corner of my eye, I noticed ol girl snatching up her babies, and running back into the house; closing the door behind her. Aja and I were cutting up so bad, we weren’t even aware that the police officers had pulled up.. Before I knew it, I had handcuffs locked around my wrist and so did my sister. Everything was a blur as I was escorted to the backseat of a squad car. I could hear Rob yelling, saying we were the aggressors and were trespassing on his property. His bald head baby momma stood on the porch crying out the same accusations. She claimed I was trying to harm her children as well. As for Rob, they must’ve been arresting him too because he kept yelling out for her to call his lawyer. Punk ass.
The whole ride to the station, all I could think about was how Rob betrayed me. How he pretty much said fuck our vows with a glob of spit. He was right though, fuck those vows. That shit never even mattered to begin with. The whole revelation caused me to burst out in a fit of laughter as I continued to process it. The officer kept looking back at me through his rear-view mirror. The tears falling from my eyes came from a mixture of joy and hurt. I was glad the muthafucka had a whole other family on the side. Divorce was about to be a breeze, and I couldn't wait for the process to be over. Fuck him!
