“We are ten minutes out… time to get into position,” Billy warned over the radio.

Grabbing Weston’s vest, I pulled him down and slammed my mouth to his. “I love you, my shadow. Come back to me at the end of this, alright?”

“As my heart demands, I will do,” he answered and pressed another kiss to my lips before stepping out of the way.

Cam took his spot and cupped my face. “I’ve waited way too fucking long to have you back in my life to ever say goodbye again, so we aren’t doing that. Be safe, be fast, and be a fucking badass.”

Pulling down the front of his hat, I kissed him. “Same goes for you, black knight. Don’t let your valor keep you from being right here at my side.”

Cognac swooped me up and around before devouring my lips. “Loba, follow your instincts, they’ll never lead you astray. I love you, and I’ve got your back… and your front.”

Slapping his chest playfully, I kissed him again. “Save me a dance for later?”

“Hmm… maybe this time I can actually get you to come all over my leg,” he whispered in my ear. “It’s a date, loba.”

Cognac then spun me into Sprocket’s arms, and he grinned down at me. “Ah… little rebel, are you ready to end this so we can really start our life together?”

“Fuck yes,” I answered without hesitation. “But I think we need a vacation first.”

A body came up behind me and boxed me in. “That’s what I keep telling you, hellcat. Preferably a naked vacation on a private island. Do you think the triplets have one of those?”

“Pretty sure I could buy us one if we really wanted it,” I pointed out. “It’s not a bad idea, though, then we could all be naked the whole time, and no one would know.”

“Yeah, that’s something definitely worth living for,” Eagle agreed, tipped my face up, and kissed me. “Time to get you settled.”

Before I let him pull me away, I kissed Sprocket. “Love you.”

“Love you too, little rebel. Now it’s time to give them hell,” he encouraged, nodding for me to get a move on.

Picasso reached out a hand to me, and I took it. He hoisted me up onto the hull of the tank. “Spitfire, you better not fucking get a scratch, you hear me?”

“Same rules apply to you as well, Rembrandt,” I teased before kissing him. “Keep them and yourself safe. You know how they get when I do crazy shit.”

“I’d say you have Void with you, so everything will be fine, but the two of you together is something the world was never ready for,” Picasso pointed out with a heavy sigh, then turned serious. “You can’t be Dax tonight. This is Two Tricks’ territory all the way. Know that no matter what happens, we’ll never leave you.”

That hit me right in the gut, but I knew what he said was true. Regardless of what I had to do tonight to end this, they would always have my back. “I love you,” I whispered before standing and climbing up onto the turret of the tank to drop down inside.

Once I was in the driver’s seat, Void took his place as loader, then Harper finished off the group as gunner. This was the biggest argument we had since the training, and to Harper’s credit, she hadn’t let her guys talk her out of it. Void reached up, pulled down the hatch, and locked it into place. Each of us put on our headsets and tuned into the frequency Wes had set up for us to use. Now we could talk to them and them to us while we pulled off the craziest stunt I had ever planned.

“Harper, remember you can’t blame me for how this turns out. You knew it was batshit crazy when you agreed to do it,” I warned, looking up at her in the dim green light.

“Batshit is exactly what this fight needed,” she pointed out.

Void just chuckled and grinned like a kid on Christmas morning. “This is even better than I’d hoped when you told me I could load the ammo for the tank. Best fucking wife ever.”

Chapter 31

Dax

As I went through the sequence to get the tank running and tested the few things I needed, Wes’s voice sounded in the headset. “Lowering ramp now.”

While I couldn’t hear anything outside of what was said through the headset, I felt the pitch change as the ramp lowered, tilting us at a downward angle.

“Loosening the winch to get you to the end of the ramp.”

It was great to have him give us a play-by-play since I couldn’t see much from my periscope and old-school green computer screen. This tank was much older than the one we’d been trained on, but on the plus side, there were fewer things to fuck up.

“You’re clear for airdrop in three… two… one. Airdrop is a go!”
