With one palm now curled around the back of her head, my rough fingers in her soft hair, I held her to me as I kissed her. At first, she didn’t touch me back, then her hands found my shoulders and her blunt fingernails dug into my skin, even through the thick sweater. “Ru…” she said with a moan, “I just met you…”

That sounded like an objection and with some reluctance I pulled away, gazing at those soft gray eyes of hers. Watching the way her chest rose and fell from her rapid breathing. She looked a little dazed, her mouth red and wet from our kisses. She looked gorgeous and a bit confused, “Why did you stop?” she asked.

I raised an eyebrow at her and she sat up a little, draping her arms around my neck, letting the soft curves of her breasts press against my chest. “Right, we can’t even properly share a conversation, I guess we should slow down. I don’t even know why you’re near Earth. Your species isn’t planning to invade us, is it?”

My belly went cold, my arousal withering with those words. Earth? This was Earth? The human home world? That was impossible, travel from the Zeta Quadrant to the Alpha Quadrant in the blink of an eye had never been done. What kind of crazy device had I found? And if this was Earth, then why didn’t she know about aliens?

Not to mention the question about invasions… While I could say for certain that the Kertinillian Army had no plans to invade Earth, as it was too far away. My species was always expanding its territory, invading its neighbors. I’d been raised, indoctrinated really, to believe in the might of the Kertinillian Army, to believe that what we did was just. I knew better now, of course, but the question still left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Shaking my head rapidly, I tried to make it clear that invasion was not the plan, and she drew out a relieved breath. “Good, I didn’t think so, but better check, right?” she laughed a little awkwardly, trying to hide how she really felt about the matter. “Do you want food? I put a stew on the stove to heat, it should be warm by now.”

I didn’t want to let her up from my lap, I wanted to keep her close, where I could make sure that she was warm. My stomach disagreed, letting me know that food was the way to go, I’d just have to convince her to come back for more cuddles after.

Stella

I needed a moment to regroup after that kiss. Whew, that was amazing. I didn’t think I’d shared a kiss that steamy in years, probably not since I’d been a teenager, sneaking away to make out in my high school boyfriend’s car. In the kitchen, I kept my hands busy as I made us bowls of fragrant stew, leftovers from the big pan I’d made the day before. I had planned to eat from it for the entire week, but I suspected Ru was going to polish it all off tonight.

My feet were getting cold again on the hardwood floors, at this time of the year it wasn’t comfortable in the cabin without a fire going. Ru had just intended to warm me up at first because he seemed pretty impervious to the chilly temperature in here. As soon as our faces had gotten close, I’d frozen like a deer, just staring at him, at that luscious dark-red mouth of his.

I had wanted it very badly at that moment and he’d complied, then I’d purposely rubbed my ass against his crotch, wanting to feel what he was packing. I wasn’t disappointed, but he was an alien, and he was stranded, he needed my help. I shouldn’t be taking advantage of him. I snorted out loud at the thought, he didn’t look like anyone could take advantage of him ever, and he had seemed as eager as I was to make out a little, or a lot.

Once I served the food I had no excuse not to look at him, and I felt a little uncertain. This was an alien from outer space, he was something completely foreign, and I knew absolutely nothing about him or his culture. What if kissing or serving him food was like a marriage proposal to him? I needed to clear that up, but how? It was kinda odd to just ask, especially when he could only nod or shake his head.

So like a coward I held my tongue all during dinner, and when he indicated his bowl and then the kitchen, I just nodded. He came back with seconds, then thirds, just like I’d predicted until the entire pan of stew was gone. After the food warmed my belly, I was a little less chilled so I didn’t need to sit quite so close to him. I debated for a long time on what to say but in the end, he decided for me.

“Stella,” he said in those deep sub-harmonic tones, my toes curled in my socks in response, it sounded so good when he said my name. He didn’t have more words to say, it seemed he’d mostly given up on talking, but he gestured with his hand, this kind of ‘come on’ motion. As if he was urging me on, he’d seen that I’d been wrestling with words, and he was urging me to spit them out.

“What we just did… That’s like, that was just for fun right? That didn’t mean anything in your culture, did it? We’re just friends?” I said, rushing through the words. I hoped fervently that he’d nod, that this didn’t mean anything to him, but it was making me feel oddly hollow inside.

He started grinning as if I’d said the funniest thing ever. Then he started to actually laugh, the sound booming out of him in deep tones that made my belly tingle. Those low tones were deep enough that they reminded me of a Harley engine, rumbling away.

“Stella,” he said, smiling widely in between laughing, he nodded, but I think he wasn’t certain how to get his message across. One moment he was on the other end of the couch, laughing and clutching his belly, the next, he had a hand around my ankle and yanked until my lower half was draped in his lap. He nodded again, and then he said, “Fun.” The word was heavily accented but I was pretty sure that’s the one he meant, he was saying, yes, let’s have some fun.

I felt arousal sing along my veins in response and I tried to temper that but boy was it hard, he was just so sexy. Even in one of my grandfather’s ugly Christmas sweaters, wearing a pair of sweats from an ex-boyfriend of mine that was two sizes too small. He had no problem manhandling me into the position he wanted, even if I could hear the seams of the sweater creak when he curled his bicep.

Straddling his lap, I was face to face with him, one leg on either side of his. His tail swung around, the blanket dangling from the tip and he took that and wrapped it around my shoulders. I swear I thought he wanted to make out some more so I was extremely disappointed when he pulled me close and tucked me into his arms, tightly pressed against his massive chest.

“Stella,” he rumbled against the top of my head, a palm rubbing vigorously along my back. I hadn’t realized how chilled my skin had gotten, and now I shuddered in response, he was so nice and warm. When he just continued to rub me warm, fussing over the blanket, I realized he was being super nice, he’d laughed because I’d been so worried. Maybe he also laughed because he thought he’d done something wrong, and now he could get back to making me warm with his body heat. Whatever it was, I wasn’t going to protest. Sure, another make-out session would have warmed me up too, but this was lovely as well.

Before long, I found myself snuggled under his chin, and the world had tilted sideways as he’d lain down. He was a bit hard for a mattress, with all those firm muscles, and tough skin, but he was a full-body space heater. This was better than curling beneath three blankets with a hot water bottle in my comfy bed.

Without permission, my eyes drifted closed and soon I was asleep.

Chapter 4

Ru’ol

I woke up with a little soreness left in my ribs, the tip of my nose cold, and my tail tucked tightly beneath the blankets. Stella was a tiny package curled up on my chest, like a pet Riho, including soft fluffy hair on top of her head.

I’d been so relieved last night that I hadn’t overstepped my bounds when I kissed her, that I might have spooked her a little with my response. I could only helplessly watch as she’d kept herself away from me and gotten colder and colder with each passing minute. If I hadn’t kissed her, she might have let me warm her, but I had, and now she was staying away.

Except she’d just been worried that she’d overstepped her bounds or that she’d committed to something without knowing the full consequences. Fun, she wanted to know that we were just having fun, that we were friends. Yes, definitely that. It seemed my seduction skills weren’t as rusty as I’d thought if I still had it when I couldn’t even be understood.

With the small human sleeping on top of my body, I didn’t really want to get up. It was starting to get a little warmer again and I shouldn’t waste daylight, I had a lot of things to do. I was still worried that she’d start getting cold as soon as I left, but maybe I could remedy that with some more blankets. I vaguely recalled a buddy in the army that mated with a human, hadn’t he once said that his female loved blankets?

She was just a slight form to lift and place back on the warm couch. The place had made a suitable bed for the night, but I’d convince her that for tonight we’d be sharing her bed. I didn’t fancy spending another night with my feet dangling over the armrest. I tucked the blanket tightly around her body, then hurried to her bedroom and gathered all her blankets from the bed. She was still sleeping when I piled those on top of her, good, she didn’t look like she got enough rest.
