His gaze went down to her shirt. “What happened to you?”
“Someone shot me.”
Again, his brow drew tight in confusion. “Why?”
“Don’t know. I guess I pissed off the wrong person.”
“Huh…” He pulled his legs up to his chest and rested his chin on his knees. “Where’s dominus?”
“He vanished. Not sure where he went.”
“You’re alive and from the looks of your repaired shirt, I’d say that you shouldn’t be.”
She nodded. “Exactly.”
“Then that means he’s on a blood hunt.”
“What’s that?”
Trinket screwed up his face. “I’m going to stop talking. Ask Helly.”
Okay then. Curious, but not wanting to push him when it was obvious he didn’t want to say anything more, she went to the bedroom to get her clothes so that she could shower.
Blood hunt.
That didn’t sound good. She’d seen the fury in those amber eyes.
Whoever Luke was after, was about to have a really bad day.
Chapter
Fifteen
Luke stood just outside the portal that he used to go through to reach Hell. Furious, he put his hand up to the shimmery veil that separated the realms.
It seared his flesh.
Cursing, he wanted blood. His banishment stung even more than the burn he’d just been given. Mostly because it wasn’t as superficial as his hand. His banishment burned to his soul.
’Cause, Fuck you, Ken.
If he ever laid hands on Shaddix again…
He practically salivated at the thought.
But that wasn’t why he was here.
The portal began to shimmer.
Luke prepared himself in case the one coming through wasn’t the one he’d come to meet.
A shadow flickered in the portal an instant before it came through and materialized in front of him.
Tall, slender, and beautiful, Senka was a creature of complete lethality. Her dark skin contrasted sharply with her amber eyes. A color she’d gifted to him.
And eyes that softened as soon as she saw him. She pulled him in for a hug and a quick kiss on his cheek.
Then she slapped him. “What are you doing here? Have you any idea how dangerous this is?”
