“Put me down.”

“Nope. You’re mine now.”

He gently smacks me on the ass as he carries me to his bedroom where he sets me on my feet with a kiss.

He rummages around in his dresser before handing me one of his shirts and leaves me to get ready for bed, telling me that there are extra toothbrushes in a basket under the sink. When I walk out of the bathroom a few minutes later, I can’t help the smile that spreads over my face at the sight of him sound asleep on top of the blankets. He grumbles when I gently nudge him awake, but eventually he gets up and goes to get ready for bed.

“I’m sorry, I’m so tired. I didn’t sleep well last night.” Yawning, he climbs into bed next to me and pulls me into his arms so I’m using his chest as a pillow. “I had all these plans of having my way with you.”

I giggle, patting his chest. “You sleep. We have plenty of time for those plans tomorrow or the day after.”

“Night, Becca,” he murmurs.

“Night, Holt.”

The last thought I have as I drift off to sleep is that I could get used to this, putting Hazel to bed together, then falling asleep curled up with him at the end of the day.

Chapter forty-one

Holt

The early morning light streaming in through the window wakes me up from the best sleep I’ve had in a really long time. It’s early, probably far earlier than I would normally get up, but at this moment, I couldn’t care less. I shift, my arm brushing against Becca’s back where she lies on her side.

“Morning,” she says, rolling over onto her back, her voice gruff from sleep.

I smile at the sight of her—hair messy, lines down her face from the pillowcase. She pushes the sheets down her stomach, revealing my Storm shirt she slept in.

She’s beautiful.

Perfect. Here.

Exactly where she belongs.

“Morning, sweetheart.” I lean over to kiss her, but she holds up a hand between us.

I frown.

“Morning breath,” she mutters, throwing the blanket off and climbing out of bed before I can tell her I don’t care. I just want to kiss her.

I tuck my arm behind my head, watching as she saunters to the bathroom, every step making my shirt ride up, giving me glimpses of her perky ass.

She closes the door, and I grab my phone to check the time and see it’s a little after seven. I know from experience that Jerry isn’t usually in his office until around nine.

“Plenty of time,” I mutter as I set my phone back on the nightstand.

“Plenty of time for what?” Becca asks as she comes back into the bedroom.

“For you to come get your ass back in bed so I can have my breakfast.” I wink at her as I stand and stalk toward her.

“Holt,” she murmurs against my chest when I pull her into me.

“Be a good girl and do what I say.”

She swallows, her pupils dilating, and for a minute, I think she’s going to argue, but she nods and walks toward the bed.

Satisfied she’ll be waiting for me when I come out of the bathroom, I shut the door and hurry to take care of business.

My grin gets bigger when I’m washing my hands and see her jewelry on the counter, her toothbrush in the holder next to mine. The small travel deodorant and brush she must have had in her purse or her car sitting by the sink.
