In the shower, I sang my heart out to my Snoh Allegra’s playlist. A good cry was all I needed. The vanilla and lavender scent was refreshing as I combed through my wet curls, standing in front of the mirror.

A knock on the door had me rushing to close the robe tightly around me before I sprinted to the door. I looked through the peephole, and there he was.

“Fuck,” I mumbled. “What is he doing here?” He knocked again. My heartbeat sped up. “Hi.” I opened the door slightly, sticking my head through the small opening.

“For someone who was trying to sit on this dick last night, you sure acting shy this morning.” My eyes widened in shock. I knew I showed out yesterday, but damn, him reminding me had me embarrassed as fuck. “I’m fucking with you, ma. Breakfast?” He moved aside, showing the tray set on the rolling cart.

“Umm,” I cleared my throat. “I need to get dressed and log in to work.”

“That’s fine. But you also need to eat.” This older man was standing in front of my door, looking good in a white tee and black sweats, with his locs hanging down. His perfectly arched brows almost made him look intimidating, but his aura said differently.

“Okay,” I moved out of the way. “Roman, right?” I threw the question out there to make sure I remembered correctly.

“You weren't that damn drunk, Koi, right?”

“Ha, ha.” I playfully rolled my eyes. “Give me a minute to get dressed.”

“Take your time. The food ain’t going nowhere, and neither am I.” I stopped, looked over my shoulder just as he bit down on his bottom lip.

“You always this persistent and bold?” I shouted from the bathroom.

“When I’m interested in getting to know a beautiful woman like yourself. Yes.” His answers were way too smooth for me.

“Mmhmm. Anyway, are you here for work?” By now I had changed into my colorful muumuu and made myself comfortable on the edge of the bed with a plate of waffles balanced on my lap.

Roman glanced up from his bacon and grinned. “You always try to change the subject when somebody compliments you?”

“I don't know what you're talking about.”

“See? You just did it.”

I rolled my eyes and pointed my fork at him. “Answer the question, sir,” I told him, fork still in hand.

He laughed. “Yeah, I'm here for work. Got meetings all week.”

“That's unfortunate.”

His eyebrow lifted. “Why is that?”

I shrugged and took a bite of my waffle. “Means I gotta share you with your little job.”

Roman leaned back in his chair, looking way too pleased with himself.

“Share me? And my little job?” he repeated.

“Don't get excited. I said what I said.”

“That sounds like jealousy to me.”

“Boy, please. Don’t flatter yourself”

“Mmhmm,” he mocked. “Anyway, are you always this cute when you're lying?”

The smile I was trying to hide slipped out before I could stop it.

“Eat your breakfast, Roman.”

“Yes, ma'am,” he replied, still looking at me like I was dessert.
