I’m proud of myself for not inviting him in with me. The tub is certainly big enough for both of us.

Jackson sets me down and switches on the hot water for the tub. “I’m sorry.”

I shake my head as I hand him a washcloth. “I kissed you first.”

“I should’ve left after room service came,” he says, running the cloth under the sink’s hot water.

“I invited you to stay,” I remind him. “This isn’t on you.”

“It’s not just on you either,” he replies, our eyes meeting. “We can’t trust ourselves around each other.”

As we established earlier.

“I don’t want to go out there and act like you don’t exist,” I tell him as my shoulders slump. “Or like you don’t matter to me. I grew up with you guys. I’ve known you all forever.”

Jackson leans forward to press a brief kiss against my forehead. “I don’t know how we’re going to navigate this, Cass. It’s only for a week and then after that…”

My eyes lower. After that, we’ll barely see each other again because we live in different cities.

Jackson sighs and washes up before leaving the bathroom to put on his swim trunks. He returns to the bathroom doorway afterward, his expression unreadable. “I’ll see you tonight.”

I look at him for a brief second and nod. “See you tonight.”

When I hear the door open and shut, I hang my head over the bathroom sink, my hands bracing on the edge of the counter. Why do I have to want three guys who I can’t have?

And as the cherry on top, why did I have to end up pregnant by one of them too?

Chapter 18: Tyler

Flames roar and sway in front of me as resort employees add more wood to the enormous bonfire they put together for tonight’s beach event.

Nearly our whole wedding party and some other guests fill the beach. There’s a DJ playing party music, coolers full of drinks, and a full moon tonight. It’s the perfect night beach party atmosphere.

I’ve been to a lot of parties, but I’ve never been to one like this before.

People are dancing, swimming, playing limbo, making smores, doing drinking games, and sneaking off to do who knows what in the dark.

“Hey, Ty!” Ryan calls out to me from the other side of the bonfire.

I walk over to him, already getting suspicious when I see one of the bridesmaids next to him. “Yeah, what’s up?”

“Have you met Becca yet?” Ryan asks me as he gestures to the slender blonde I’ve seen around.

“Not officially,” I reply before sticking my hand out to shake her hand and be polite. “Tyler.”

“Becca,” she says, her face lightly flushed from the drink in her other hand. “I always see you around, but I’ve never found the opportunity to come up and talk to you.”

“Becca is a nurse in Seattle,” Ryan explains to me. “She’s always saving lives.”

Becca smiles and shakes her head. “I don’t know about saving lives, but I’m always helping people.”

“That’s really good of you. Nurses aren’t treated anywhere near as fairly as they should be,” I say.

“Well, thank you. I agree,” she replies with a warm look.

“I saw you were alone, so I figured you could use some company,” Ryan says to me with a sly expression.
