"I love you guys too."
"Damn," Quinn pipes up. "There's a whole lotta love in this room today. Now that we both have our parents in the room together I think it's a good time to discuss titles," Quinn turns to my parents, "what would you like to be called? Grandma and grandpa, nana and papa, or mawmaw and pawpaw? You guys have roughly seven months to figure that shit out."
My mom and dad look at Quinn for a minute like he's lost his mind before my mom snaps her head in my direction. "Are you pregnant?"
With a big smile, I nod. Then my mother shocks me again when she jumps from the sofa, her purse spilling to the floor as she screams and claps her hands. Vicky comes over and whisks my mom away and I hear the two of them rattling on about a baby shower as Quinn wears a cheeky grin, wraps his arms around me, and pulls me into his chest. Closing my eyes, I breathe in his scent and place my palm over his heart, and he puts his hand over the top of mine. "It beats for us, Sunshine."
Later that night Quinn and I are lying in bed, and I begin to reflect on today's events. I called my brother and thanked him for sticking his nose into my business and convincing our parents to come to Polson. I just hope the next relationship they repair is the one they have with Easton.
Mom and Dad left two hours ago with a promise to visit again in a few weeks. My mother even exchanged numbers with Vicky. The two of them are in full grandmother mode.
"What are ya smiling about, babe?"
"Nothing, I'm just happy." Quinn is about to reply when someone begins banging on our door. Without waiting for an answer, Logan burst through. "Mila's water broke. Let's move!"
Without wasting time, Quinn and I jump out of bed and throw on our clothes. By the time we make it downstairs Reid is carrying Mila out the door bridal style while she gives him sass. "I can walk."
Six hours and forty-seven minutes later, Reid walks into the waiting room of the maternity floor where the whole club is waiting on pins and needles. The chatter in the room comes to an abrupt halt at his presence. With a massive smile, Reid delivers the news. "We have a son. Noah Quinn Carter weighed in at 8lbs 5oz. Mom and baby are doing good."
The room erupts into cheers as Reid makes his rounds with his brothers and they congratulate him on the birth of his son. When he gets to Quinn, Reid says something into his ear right before he takes Quinn's head in his hands. They stare silently at each other for a moment before they pull one another in for a hug and clap each other on the back.
It's after sunrise the next morning when we leave the hospital. Quinn and me, along with Logan and Bella, Gabriel and Alba are standing in the parking lot about to load up when Jake speaks. "Ma just called. She said breakfast would be ready in about an hour."
"Fuck yeah, Prez. You don't have to ask me twice," Quinn says. Mounting his bike, Quinn holds out his hand. "Come on, Sunshine. My stomach waits for no one."
Rolling my eyes, I take his offered hand, climb on behind him, and wrap my arms around his waist. As we cruise down the road, through the countryside and we pass the lake on the way to Jake's parents place, I look around at my beautiful surroundings. The sun rising over the mountains is lighting the lake up with colors of orange and yellow, and with the cool crisp breeze beating down on my face, I can't imagine a moment more perfect than this one.
Chapter Twenty-Eight
Quinn
I wake to the sun creeping through the slates in the window blinds, and Emerson tucked into my side. It's been several weeks since shit with the Reapers took place, and I'm feeling great. So, my life and the clubs has finally started to get back to normal.
My woman and I had a long talk about all the things we plan to do, and she really likes the way thing are right now. She has become very comfortable staying here at the clubhouse, so Emerson decided not to renew the lease on her apartment last week.
Laying here in bed, I watch my woman sleep while I think about our future. I haven't asked her to marry me yet, and Emerson hasn't brought it up. Not that I don't want to make her mine legally, I only want to give her a moment she will remember for the rest of her life. Plans have already been set in place long before now to make sure that happens.
As much as living here at the clubhouse has been great we've also talked about finding a house before the baby arrives. What she doesn't know is we won't need to find a home because I had one picked out and paid for several months ago. The only thing I'm waiting for is the final phase of remodeling to be completed in the master bedroom before I surprise her. Reid should have that wrapped up by the end of the week.
Emerson stirs, and her eyes flutter open. "Good morning," she smiles. "What time is it?" she blinks letting her eyes adjust to the sunlight.
"Good-mornin' to you too, beautiful. Time for us to start the day. We have to be at my mom and dad's place in an hour," I rub her thigh.
"Sorry I crashed on you last night. I've been tired more than usual these days." Emerson stretches her arms above her head causing her tank to rise and expose her baby bump. I love that she's finally starting to show. The fact she is carrying another life inside her leaves me awestruck all the time.
"Sunshine?"
"Hmm?" she moans through her stretch.
"You're beautiful," I confess watching the sunbeams dance across her skin. "I love you."
Giggling, she teases as she rubs her tummy. "I'm gonna gain more than I should if I continue to eat my weight in waffles every day. Will you still love me then?" her bottom lip pokes out, and she looks down at her body.
A body I see nothing wrong with.
Whether she's serious or not—I don't like her asking that sort of question. Gently grabbing her, I bring her to straddle my hips, and I let my eyes roam her body. She is absolute perfection in my eyes. "Don't joke about somethin' like that," my eyes stay fixed on hers. "I could never unlove you."
Her face softens. Grabbing my hand, she places it on her chest. Her heart thumps against my palm. Then she puts my other hand on her growing belly, and my little girl kicks. "They beat for you," she smiles down at me.
