With my head held high, I look both my parents in the eyes. "Really? I could say the same thing about you two. I'm embarrassed to say I have two of the most stuck-up, and judgmental parents. All you care about is judging a book by its cover. Not once did you ask me if I'm happy? You have never cared about what made me happy. All you have ever cared about is what YOU wanted for me and what made YOU happy. I'm the one who is disappointed. I'm disappointed in you both." I walk over to where Brenda and Martin Evans are standing in my doorway and shut the door in their faces.

Holy shit! I can't believe I just did that. I have never stood up to my parents like that before. My body is shaking, and I feel like my legs are about to give out, but before they do, Quinn has me in his arms, and his mouth on mine. Our tongues battle each other as he slams me up against the door and I wrap my legs around his waist. In a race to rid each other of our clothes, I rip his shirt off over his head the same time he sets me down long enough to take my jean shorts off. Palming my ass, he lifts me back up, and my hands shake as I frantically unbuckle his belt and free his thick cock. Placing his swollen head at my entrance, he wastes no time surging forward burying himself to the hilt. His mouth swallows my cry. Breaking our kiss, Quinn rests his forehead on mine. He pulls out almost all the way then slams back in with so much force the door behind me rattles.

"Say it again," he growls never losing momentum.

"Say what?" I moan when he swivels his hip making his piercing rub just the right spot.

"Tell me you love me. I want to hear you repeat it."

His plea brings me out of my fog and Quinn stills with his cock buried inside me. "Tell me you meant it. Tell me you love me."

Cupping his face, I say the words he's desperate to hear. The words I know with all my heart and soul to be true. "I'm in love with you, Quinn Beckett."

Quinn closes his eyes as if he's soaking in my confession. A second later he opens them and makes is own. "I'm in love with you too, Emerson Evans. I've been in love with you for two goddamn years."

As soon as those words leave his lips, I let out a sob. Kissing away my tears Quinn begins to thrust, and my cries turn into moans as he fucks me into the door. Not once does he let up and not once does he take his eyes off mine. I can feel him pouring his soul into my body. In this moment, I give Quinn my heart.

Chapter Thirteen

Quinn

It's been a few days since we had our little encounter with Boulder and is men. And the fact we haven't heard a peep out of them should be a good sign. It should mean they've packed their shit and rode their sorry asses out of town as ordered, but it's not settling too well with me. We haven't heard of them being seen anywhere, and even Gabriel and I made a trip back out to the RV park they had been held up in to find no sight of them. The camper was gone. The fuckers don't seem like the type that would be smart enough to overlook the fact their Prez ate a fist sandwich. The pure lack of disrespect the guy had already displayed by stepping foot on our turf and puffin his tail feathers, pretty much declaring he wants something that doesn't belong to him clearly shows they don't follow any kind of biker code. That leads me to believe they have nothing to lose. And when someone has nothing to lose they live life giving little to zero fucks how they go about taking what they want. It's turds like those bikers that give MC's a bad name.

I stand in front of the bathroom mirror and study my face. It's early. Peering across the room, I watch Emerson for a moment as she sleeps. Turning my head, I examine myself again. Rolling my neck a few times, I try to work out the tension in my muscles, but it doesn't work. I'm tired, and sleep hasn't been easy with all this shit on my mind. I get lost in thought standing here.

I smell her before she touches me. Emerson comes up behind me, wraps her arms around my waist and splays her palms across my bare abs. "I love you," her soft lips press against my back, and her hot breath causes my skin to prickle.

"I love you too, Sunshine." Exhaling, I push my thoughts away for now. Emerson dips her head under my arm, putting herself between me and the bathroom sink. Tilting her head back, she looks at me. Her beautiful grey eyes lock on mine.

"Are you okay? You've been restless. I don't think you've slept at all the past two nights." She says with worry.

"I'm good, babe." Brushing her unruly slept in hair from her face, I run the pad of my thumb over her cheek. "You don't have to worry about me," I look at her knowing my words aren't sinking in.

"You can't tell someone who cares about you not to worry and expect them not to worry," her lips lift in a half smile. "I understand you can't tell me everything that's went down with this other club. I'm also very aware since being involved with the MC for a while now you men don't talk outside the member circle about things, but something's eating at you," she scrunches her nose causing her forehead to crease as she makes her point. "I've never seen you this way, and for me, that's enough cause to worry."

There is a lot of shit we don't tell the women and our other family members. To keep them safe. The less they know about some of the shit we encounter from time to time the better. Plausible deniability. If they don't know, it can't be used against them. When something needs to be said, we keep it to a minimum. Sometimes that can be hard as hell when the one person you want to tell all your secrets to is stressed out. Not for herself, but for me. "Sunshine," I zone in on her full lips that have a little pout too them. "Everything is good. Promise." Leaning down, I kiss her forehead before touching my lips to hers. Her hands clench at the waistband of my sweatpants. Pulling away she looks at my face again, her cheeks flushed. Emerson clears her throat.

"Nice try—" she reaches up putting her hand on the back of my neck. Her fingers start to play with my hair, "but, I can't shake this feeling I've been having lately. The feeling something awful is going to happen," her eyes start to gloss over with emotion.

"Babe," I grab her other hand and place it over my heart. "You feel that?" I ask her. She nods. "It beats for you, Sunshine. It beats for us. We can't live in the future. Not when we haven't lived for right now. In this moment." Placing my hands beneath her ass, I lifted her up. With her palm still over my heart, she wraps her legs around my waist, and I carry her to the bed. Laying her on her back, I hover my body over hers, covering her hand on my chest with mine. "That's what we focus on. We live for today; for this moment." Emerson bites her bottom lip to keep from crying. "I love you, and nothing else matters right now but you and me." The rest of the morning I make slow love to my woman.

It's mid-afternoon and Logan, and I are knee deep in a massive rebuild at the shop when my phone rings. Assuming its Emerson who usually calls on her lunch break, I half ass wipe my hands down the front of my jeans, grab my phone from the top of the workbench next to me and swipe my thumb across the screen leaving a light smudge on the surface. "Hey, beautiful. You miss me?" I say playfully, hoping she says yes.

"Quinn," my mother's shaky voice is barely audible coming through the speaker of my phone causing every muscle in my body to go rigid. "Mom, what's wrong?" I say a little too loud, and it catches Logan's attention. Standing, he walks over and stands beside me. My mom sniffles on the other end of the phone.

"Sweetheart, Dad had an accident at work. They're in route to the hospital now—" she pauses for a moment. I can hear her take a deep breath. "I'm in my car heading that way now."

All the air gets sucked from my lungs. "Did they tell you anything else?"

"No, just that I need to get to the hospital. Honey, I need you there with me if—" her voice breaks.

"I'll be there," I tell her before ending the call. Hauling ass, I run out the bay door. I don't look back. I don't say anything to Logan. He was there. He heard every word. I know he will cover all the bases and in no time my brothers will follow suit, and be standing right beside me.

After weaving in and out of lunchtime traffic, I make it to the hospital and find my mom's car already in the parking lot. Racing to the entrance of the ER and through the automatic doors, I immediately scan the waiting room looking for her. I don't see her. Maybe she's back there with him. I walk over to the small exam room where the triage nurse is and knock on the open door. Her head lifts from the papers on the table in front of her. "Can I help you?" she asks with a smile.

"A patient was brought in, Quinten Beckett."

"Yes, I took his wife to the back only moments ago," she stands, "are you family?"
