‘W-w-w-why are they saying these things?’ Sammy stammered, immediately logging into another social media account and seeing the same thing repeated again.

This was crazy, and totally not what Sammy had expected to see. Sammy knew that everyone was entitled to an opinion, but so many of the comments totally crossed a line…

Sammy you LOSER! Way to let your fans down! Consider me UNSUBSCRIBED!

Used to think I could rely on you. I guess maybe you’re just an ASSHOLE?

I heard he got cancelled? Maybe the rumors are true??? GROSS!

Sammy was shaking with upset as he continued to scroll. Each new comment or DM hit him hard. Sammy knew that he should put the phone away and block it all out, but the severity of the messages was getting to him in a big way.

What Sammy needed was to have Harrison with him in that moment. Sure, Harrison would probably have been angry at him for even checking his phone, but at least he would have put a protective arm around Sammy.

I… just don’t get it.

What did I ever do to them?

Why are they so mad?

Sammy began to feel himself panicking. There were way too many messages to respond to individually, and that wasn’t even taking into account the hundreds of comments either. If only Sammy could explain that he was just taking a break for his own health, people would surely understand and be okay with it.

But not having his Daddy with him to take control, Sammy did the one thing that he knew he shouldn’t. Sammy messaged his manager, Tucker. Sammy knew that Tucker was annoyed with him for taking time off but figured that Tucker might at least be able to say or do something to calm the situation down and make all the cruel comments go away or at least stop for a while.

It didn’t take Tucker long to respond to Sammy’s message, but his response wasn’t exactly what Sammy was hoping for…

You know, I could have told you this would happen. There’s only one thing that can put it right. You need to get back to your filming schedule and that needs to happen ASAP. I put time, energy and money into making you have this profile, the least you could do would be to repay that and keep your end of the deal up. Let me know when you’re good to go and I’ll have the cameras ready to roll. Do not take too long thinking about this. Tucker.

Sammy didn’t know how to respond to this message. It didn’t seem fair to Sammy that Tucker was somehow blaming him for all the horrible comments and trolls attacking him. But on the other hand, Tucker was an expert who had taken Sammy from a small number of followers to the level he was at.

‘This is hard, Zozo,’ Sammy said, his eyes filling with tears. ‘I just don’t know what to do…’

Sammy couldn’t decide which course of action to take. He valued his reputation and had always enjoyed having online fans. The thought of alienating them all forever was tough to take.

But on the other hand, Sammy had been enjoying himself so much since going offline.

Either way, a decision had to be made. Time was not on Sammy’s side and whether his Daddy was home or not, Sammy knew that he needed to do something – and fast.

Chapter 16

HARRISON

Harrison was pissed off. Like, seriously pissed off. The rock climbing with Zane had been fun for as long as it had lasted. But only about an hour in, Harrison had received an email summoning him to see Dean Hoffman.

Harrison would have ignored the email, but something about the seething, angry tone of it made him reconsider. After all, as much as Harrison didn’t respect Hoffman, he did acknowledge that he was his boss and it was wise to not overtly go out of his way to anger him.

‘Urgh. I hate Hoffman almost as much as you at this point,’ Zane said, wiping the sweat from his brow. ‘I’ll drive you back. Trust me, my 911 can shift.’

‘I don’t doubt it,’ Harrison said, wiping his face with a towel. ‘I’ve got a bad feeling about this meeting. Hoffman’s been trying to ride my ass for months. This feels… different somehow.’

Without further ado, Harrison and Zane hopped into Zane’s Porsche 911 and made it back to campus in record time.

With the sound of Zane’s car roaring away, Harrison took a moment to compose himself before he entered the Dean’s building. It was the oldest building on campus and had been maintained to a very high standard – no doubt using up plenty of the budget that could have gone toward improving the student accommodation.

Okay. Let’s get this shit over with.

Just keep it cool.

Whatever you do… stay fucking cool.
