“I love all of you,” I said as I realized that at some point, the rest of the guys had joined us and were now hovering around me.
“My turn to take her flying,” Gage said and took me from Wayne’s arms. “You haven’t truly flown on a dragon until you’ve flown on the best flyer on Drakorantia.”
“Best flyer? Pfft, you’re second best,” Zeke argued and tried to take me from Gage.
The guys squabbled back and forth, but love and joy were the only emotions flowing through the bond.
“Before I forget,” Zeke said as he snagged me from Gage’s arms. “I received confirmation today that the refugee city is under construction and we’ve already started reaching out, searching for Caltyrelan survivors. Soon enough, those that are alive will have a permanent place to call home and you can visit them as often as you’d like.”
Tears welled in my eyes and I hugged him with my nose buried in his neck to hide my tears. “Thank you. I can’t believe my people will finally have a place to call home again.”
“It’s the least we can do,” he whispered and patted my back.
We stopped at one of the orphanages that I’d sponsored and the children immediately rushed outside to greet us. And by greet us I mean jump all over the princes.
The guys didn’t seem to mind as they scooped the kids up, tossed them into the air or started playing with them.
One of the little girls fell and skinned her knee and Zeke knelt in front of her, his voice as soft as he could make it, and within seconds she forgot about her scrape and laughed at whatever it was he said.
Butterflies swirled within my stomach as I watched my handsome men playing with the children and the thought of them doing the same with our own children circled in my mind.
They were great protectors and they would no doubt be even more overprotective of our child as they were of me. When my planet blew up and Charles took me hostage, I never envisioned myself having children. I thought that path was dead for me.
Yet, here it was, open and waiting for me to make the choice. And for once, it was my choice. And for once, I realized how much I wanted it. How much I wanted a little me or a mini version of one of my mates running around.
“Princess! Princess!” a little boy called as he ran over, a huge smile on his face showing off his three missing teeth. “Will you come play with us?”
“Of course!” I replied and let him take my hand and lead me over to play with the others.
CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
The wedding went perfectly and looked magnificent, even the High Queen praised the choices I’d made and the décor. Thankfully, it was a short and simple exchanging of vows and being officially named a princess of Drakorantia. I much preferred the Drakorantia wedding to the Caltyrelan, which was always at least an hour long due to all the boring speeches the officiant gave.
The four princes now stood facing me, a magic circle on the ground between us, and gave me warm, happy smiles.
“One. Two. Three,” Preston whispered in my mind. Since our bond had continued to develop, we found we could now communicate telepathically, which was both a blessing and a curse that I was getting used to. In times like this, it was very handy, though.
On three, the five of us simultaneously stepped into the magic circle. A burst of bright, cyan-colored magic burst up from the magic circle to cover us in a cyan magic bubble.
“Fated mates!” High King Alaric yelled. “They’re fated mates!”
Everyone assembled gasped and I swore we could hear those watching from around the world gasp as well. Had the planet itself gasped? Okay, I was definitely being silly, but my heart was too full to care. It was surprising to me that Preston hadn’t told his parents about us being fated. Judging by the smugness I felt through our bond from him, it was withheld from them on purpose.
“I accept my mates and our bond!” I announced proudly. The magic exploded and our bond fully solidified, making me exhale in relief. Turning to the princes, I pulled the bracelets I’d made out of my pockets, conveniently sewn into the dress, and held them out.
They each took one, smiling like I’d given them a moon instead of a poorly crafted leaf bracelet. Leaning forward to draw their attention, they all leaned closer as well. I whispered, “I also had my implant removed.”
Their eyes widened, but Preston’s the most of all. He started to grab me, like he was going to cart me off, but High Queen Seraphyne tsked, stopping him. He growled softly, but bent to nip his mark on the side of my neck. “Later, pet, you’ll be strapped to that bed for days at least.”
My heart beat faster, but for the first time it wasn’t fear I felt at hearing those types of words, but excitement and anticipation.
“Promises, promises, Prince,” I purred.
“We present to you, Drakorantia, your crowned Princess Xoe and the crowned Princes Preston, Zeke, Wayne, and Gage!” High King Alaric announced, his voice booming out for all across the world to hear.
“Long live Princess Xoe! Long live the Princes!”
As I faced my mates, my husbands, my everything, I felt my soul finally settle. I had finally found a home, not just their planet, but them, my princes, the pieces of my heart and soul.
