Lexie: What are you up to today? Want to do something?
Freddy: I don’t know what my plans are for the day yet. I’m at Mistress Camille’s right now, so I need to wait until she wakes up to find out if she wants to do something.
Lexie: I’m calling you.
He didn’t have a chance to respond and tell her no before his phone buzzed again, this time with a call. Sighing, because he knew it wouldn’t do any good to ignore it, he answered the video call, and her scowling face greeted him.
“Don’t yell at me. She’s still sleeping, and I don’t want her to wake up yet,” he said quickly. “I’m making her breakfast.”
Some of the scowl on Lexie’s face cleared. Just a touch.
“Okay, that’s really cute, but that’s not going to get you off the hook. Did you spend the night? I didn’t even know you had a date! What the hell, Freddy?!” Her righteous anger was delivered in a hiss rather than a shout, out of respect for his request, and Freddy felt a small pang of guilt.
This was what Shane had been talking about when he inferred that Freddy didn’t let people in. He hadn’t even thought to call Lexie and tell her that he had a date. Why hadn’t he? Why had he kept it all to himself?
“I’m sorry.” He didn’t know what else to say since he didn’t really have an explanation. “I guess… I don’t know. I’m not used to having anything going on with me, so I’m not used to telling people when something is.”
“Okay, well to be clear, as your friend, I expect regular updates when something exciting is happening in your life, whether it’s work, a relationship, or whatever.” She made a face. “You’re not wrong that you don’t usually have something new and different going on. I’m glad that’s changing. So, she’s not up yet?”
“No, and I’m trying to make her breakfast before she wakes up.” He raised his eyebrow at Lexie. Hint, hint.
Lexie rolled her eyes.
“Okay fine, but I expect a call later. Or Happy Hour sometime this week. Something so you can catch me up on everything.” She pointed her finger at the phone screen. “Got it?”
“Got it.” He shook his head as they hung up, but the point had been made. He was really good at being there for his friends but less good at letting his friends be there for him or letting them into his life. Something to work on, especially if he wanted to be in a romantic relationship.
In the meantime, he had breakfast to make.
Camille
Waking up alone was not how Camille had expected to start her day. Frowning, she sat up. There was an indent in the pillow where he’d slept but not him. A noise outside the bedroom at least let her know he hadn’t disappeared before she’d gotten up, not that she thought he would, but it was hard not to be a little paranoid when she woke up to an empty bed.
Yawning, she got out of bed, grabbed her robe, and realized she smelled coffee. And food.
Holy crap.
She didn’t rush out to the kitchen, but she didn’t not rush, either. She wanted to see what he was doing. The sight that met her eyes wasn’t quite what she’d been picturing. Freddy was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast, but somehow, she’d missed that all of his clothes were still in her room. She was greeted by the sight of his very cute butt framed by a frilly white apron. A neatly tied bow right above his cheeks added to the cuteness factor, as did the ties hanging down to rest on the curve of his butt.
Turning to look over his shoulder, Freddy grinned at her, and Camille smiled back. Leaning against the doorway, she appreciated the attractiveness of a man who was so secure in his masculinity, he could wear literally whatever the hell he wanted and be perfectly at home.
It was hot.
“Good morning. Perfect timing, breakfast is almost ready.” Seemingly at home in her kitchen, which was also pretty hot, Freddy pivoted to pour her a cup of coffee in a waiting mug. “Sugar? Cream?”
He was in full service submissive mode, and while part of her felt odd allowing someone else to be the ‘host’ in her home, he was clearly having such a good time, she didn’t want to stop him. Besides, if he’d been without a Dominant for as long as he said he had, this was likely a need he’d been denied for far too long.
“I like the first cup black. Thank you,” she said as he handed her the cup. “Everything smells amazing.” It really did, no need to lie, thankfully. It looked delicious, too. Her stomach rumbled.
“Good. Go ahead and have a seat, and I’ll get this plated for you,” he said eagerly.
Bemused, Camille did as she was told without commenting on how bossy some service subs could be. She’d almost forgotten what it could be like. Power dynamics were always interesting, especially when it came to honoring a sub’s needs. Freddy didn’t even seem to realize how he’d spoken to her, and she could have called him on it, but she also didn’t want to interrupt a nice morning or the nice gesture he was making.
Besides, she didn’t want to be a twenty-four seven Dominant, and right now, they weren’t in the bedroom, even if he was in submissive mode, so she would let it slide. It was certainly something to keep in mind for later if she was ever in the mood to deliver some funishment.
The happy little smile on his face as he brought over the gorgeously plated food—seriously, it looked like something from a restaurant—made her insides go all warm and fuzzy. This was what a satisfied submissive looked like, and she’d been the one to put that smile on his face. Her own sense of satisfaction swept through her, going far beyond the physical satiation she’d already felt.
Her in her robe, Freddy in her apron, they sat and ate breakfast, reminiscing about their favorite parts of the day before. It felt natural yet surreal, as if she was still dreaming because how could this be her life?
