Lux asked, “Dad?” Alpha Theo looked and sounded horrified, “Morgana found a way to keep Odette’s wolf quiet because I took you. You turned sixteen and I took you. So, she hid Odette’s wolf from her. Son of a bitch!”

Aunt Haley shouted, “Exfuckingcuse me?! Morgana, that name just screams evil bitch by the way,” Anne muttered, “Afreakingmen.” Haley added, “Is the one to blame for this. I have other thoughts on that name too. Did Odette ever mention being committed?” I snarled and Emmett and dad held me back.

I linked Keith, “COMMITED?! I’LL KILL HER! I WILL GUT HER LIKE A GODDAMN FISH!” Keith replied, “I will help you.” Good. Dad linked, “Son, calm down.” I shouted, “COMMITED!” Dad said, “We don’t know that yet.” I scoffed, “Yes, we do. Aunt Haley is sure or she wouldn’t have said it.”

Uncle Eric growled, “You think Odette’s unstable?” Channing demanded, “You tell them mate is fine! It’s just magic on her!” Aunt Haley said, “No, I think she’s a teenager who basically raised herself since she was five years old after her bitch of a mother took her away from the big brother, and only family, she knew.”

Channing snarled in my head as Aunt Haley continued, “Odette was probably alone a lot. She probably didn’t take her medicine at some point. She’s a child and teenagers are stubborn sometimes. What would Odette hear if she did that? A fucking voice in her head. Humans immediately go to a mental disorder when people start hearing a voice in their head.”

I was not the only one who growled. Emmett linked, “We can hunt down anyone if that happened. Human or not, they die.” Good. More people on my LEVEL! Malachi announced, “I’ve been filled in by a seriously interesting Beta group text. Not Katie…” I linked Emmett, “REALLY! I told you her name.”

Emmett reasoned, “Surely you know, outside a select group, they were still calling her Not Katie.” Ok, fine. Malachi shook himself, “I mean Odette’s kidnappers are on the phone. They want to talk over the ransom with Keaton. Someone told them she’s your mate.” FUCKING WHO?!

I growled, “How? No one knew.” Emmett linked me, “Odette being your mate was the WORST kept secret of all time. That’s how they knew. You’re an Alpha, the ability to keep your mate a secret is not one you have.” I glared at him.

Sierra snorted, “I bet Melanie knows.” Well, that was hardly groundbreaking! Melanie knew everything! Ken muttered, “Everyone knew, it just wasn’t announced. He hid it very badly.” I shot him a glare, but Ken just shrugged.

Alexander ordered, “Track Melanie’s watch right now!” Channing asked, “THAT WAS AN OPTION THE ENTIRE TIME?!” Apparently. Sierra winced, “I wasn’t kidding when I said we don’t know how.” Channing grumbled, “I feel like there’s a way to ASK the system where she is.” There had to be.

Alexnader shouted, “MICAH!” Micah sighed, “Sierra, now would be a great time for those instructions so I can track Melanie down.” I linked dad, “No, a GREAT time would’ve been when my mate was kidnapped and Melanie took off after her. This obviously takes precedent over an Alpha meeting!” Dad sighed, “Angela said it worked out best injury wise this way.”

THEY HURT MY MATE?! Dead. Everyone was fucking dead. Alexander asked, “How do I talk to Melanie on this watch?” Sierra sighed, “Mel went dark, you can’t talk to her.” I linked Emmett, “False, the techy Luna is madly in love with her mate. He can ABSOLUTELY talk to her.”

Dylan cleared his throat, “I bet he can. MelAshley looovvvvessss him.” Emmett said, “For the record, I agree.” We did not have time for this! I shouted, “Enough! Someone pop us back to our territory so I can get my mate back.”

Nathan agreed, “He’s right.” I knew that. He muttered, “My daughter I haven’t even met, who is not eighteen, has a mate. This is some shit.” Nathan was going to take me being marked horribly. Channing asked, “Who cares? NOT ME!”

Aunt Haley scoffed, “Oh for god’s sake, there will be no fucking pouting. Odette has a mate, who is a great fucking man. All five of you Conners boys wipe that look off your face.” Thank god she loved me. I reached for Annie’s hand to pop us back.

When we were popped back in, Odette’s eyes found mine. Then someone slapped her. Channing roared, “I’ll rip them to pieces.” I nearly shifted, and only didn’t because dad roared down the link, “Pup, calm down! Your mate needs you right now.” That was true.

Before I could agree to the ransom, Uncle Eric did. I couldn’t help but smile. My mate had a loving family just like she wanted. Channing whimpered, “Mate was right. We should’ve known her our whole lives.” Yes, we should’ve. There never should’ve been toxic ex’s on either of our sides.

Odette smiled when I called myself an Alpha. Keith linked me, “Ohhh boy. Your mate already knew that detail. She’s definitely talked to the techy Luna.” My twin was probably right. Channing purred, “Mate is proud of us. I can’t wait to shift for her.”

I felt my dad and Emmett’s hands on my back. Odette’s eyes flickered a few times. Son of bitch. Channing growled, “MATE!” Odette had her wolf. Could Melanie do that? Or was Aunt Haley right? The second my mate stopped taking those pills her wolf came to her.

Howls rang out as a woman handed something to Odette and kept moving. I watched as Melanie, in wolf form, stormed into the room. Channing cheered, “Get them Freya!” Odette paused. She needed to run. She wasn’t trained for this. I yelled, “Run!” Malachi reasoned, “She can’t hear you, Keaton.”

I linked, “Shut up!” Malachi just calmly said, “You know your mate can’t hear you, but she will run. Melanie will not put Odette in danger. You know that. You called that out about the Resistance Leader a long time ago.” Ok, that was true.

My mate left and we watched as Freya smirked and then glowed. Someone on their side, “SCATTER! Run for your life!” But it was too late. Melanie electrocuted the whole room then took off after Odette. Channing cheered, “Yes, Freya!”

Eric said, “Someone tell me we have goddamn eyes outside.” Gunner triumphantly announced, “I do.” Tension I’d been holding released. Gunner put something up on our screen. We watched Odette’s wolf take over to growl.

Channing purred while Nathan put his hand on his chest. My mate had a powerful snarl. Keith linked me, “Maybe don’t get a hard on right now.” I scoffed, “Sure, ok. I can do that. Oh, wait NO I CAN’T! It was hot!” Keith glanced at the ceiling.

Melanie was in front of them now. I growled, “They are being surrounded!” Odette frantically looked around, spotted water, and relief colored her expression. Malachi said, “Oh no.” I linked him, “Don’t say that! Why are you saying that?!”

Eric ground out, “What?” Malachi explained, “We had a prisoner that came after Keaton and Odette on spring break. He jumped into a puddle and was gone. Odette thinks she can do that too.” I linked Emmett, “Odette doesn’t think she can, she knows. We didn’t tell her that guy escaped or how.” Emmett jolted looking in my direction, but I could feel I was right.

Lux snorted, “Odette can’t do that! She has no idea how.” I disagreed, “Your sister has been talking to her brothers. Granted, Odette thinks they are in the mob. The point is they could’ve told her how to get them if she needed to. They had to know she’d only try in danger, so maybe whatever the HELL your other half is has this ability.”

Lux growled, “I’m sorry, I HAVE BROTHERS?!” Right. He didn’t know that, my bad. This is probably what Melanie felt like all the time. I nodded, “You do. Caspian and Trit are the two names I know.” We watched as Melanie ran faster than anyone could process to the hot spring.

Odette screamed for Caspian as they jumped in, and the water became perfectly clear. A wolf jumped in after them. He came up announcing, “They are gone.” Someone yelled, “How could they be gone?! We didn’t block that girl’s memories! She knows ENTIRELY too much. She’ll ruin everything!”

The guy paced, “Get everyone alive out of here. Clear out now.” I snarled, “You can’t hide from me, you mother fucker!” Lux snorted, “Nor me. I saw his ass.” Keith linked, “Just take me with you this time.” Maybe.
