I shrugged, “You’ll figure it out.” Channing agreed, “Shara definitely will.” My Beta smiled, “I always do. Do you know what secret Immy is keeping?” I shook my head, “I don’t.” Clara snapped her fingers, “Damn. I was hoping she told someone.” She did and it was Aunt Haley. Whatever it was, Aunt Haley was on the case.
Benji walked over to us with a smile on his face. I asked, “What’s with you?” Benji answered, “My dad and Silas met someone quite interesting.” I looked at Clara who shrugged. I commented, “Ok, I’ll bite. Who?” Benji smirked, “Your OdKatie.”
I frowned, “I think everyone knows her name is Odette now. How did they meet her?” Benji smirked, “Your OdKatie made an appointment to get her eyes checked.” Clara pointed out, “Humans get their eyes checked once a year. I’m sure it’s just the annual exam.”
Benji shrugged, “My dad had to grant her the peace of the earth.” I snarled, “What?! WHY?!” Then shifted into Channing before quickly shifted back. Benji snapped clothes on me with a smirk. Emmett flashed over, “What the hell is going on over here? Why are we snarling?” Malachi ran over, “I can actually answer this one.”
Benji waved his hand, “Nonsense, I can answer. My dad had to pop OdKatie home too.” I gasped, “WHAT? She’s probably in the fetal position going insane! Why would Oscar do that?! There’s magic on Odette so she can’t think about Supernatural’s. She’s getting headaches!” I shifted again and Channing growled.
Benji rolled his eyes, “Holy overreaction, wolf man. OdKatie was passed out. Her eyes are apparently very sensitive. They dilated them to make sure everything was ok.” I shifted back and growled, “You’re half wolf! Hell, you have a wolf but you’re calling me wolf man?!”
Benji replied, “Your wolf is taking over at the drop of a hat. So, wolf man seems apt.” He snapped me into clothes again. I groaned, “Ugh. I’ll go see her.” Benji snorted, “Shocker. I’m stunned you’re going to see her. Oh, wait. No, I’m not.”
Emmett watched me worriedly as I flashed away. I didn’t know Odette had an eye doctor appointment. I would’ve taken her. I ran past Ken who was waiting. The man yelled, “Keaton!” I ignored him and ran up to Odette’s place.
I hurriedly opened her door and heard someone on the phone telling her to let me know there’s nothing wrong with her eyes. Channing growled, “We didn’t know mate had an appointment! I know there’s nothing wrong with her.” I said, “It was just a checkup though. Right?” Channing sighed.
Odette admitted she went to the doctor because she kept seeing things, like people’s eyes turning black. Channing whimpered in my head while I felt terrible. How was I supposed to explain that her eyes were fine? It wasn’t going to stop, but it wasn’t because her eyes were messed up.
Odette was just around a lot of wolves. I wondered if her brother had anything else that could help me. She was too sensitive to light, so I quickly pulled all the curtains. I pulled bobby pins from my on the go kit Uncle Heath always had us carry.
I was immensely grateful in this moment for my uncle’s stickler tendencies of being prepared. I made the room as dark as possible. Odette finally admitted her birthday was tomorrow then fell asleep. I linked Oscar, “What the HELL happened? You treat Supernatural’s sometimes and no one has this reaction.”
Channing said, “They could.” No, Oscar would’ve been prepared. Oscar replied, “We used the drop we use on Werewolves. You know wolves as a whole can be sensitive to light, but Odette’s was an extreme reaction.”
“I didn’t know what she was. I should’ve called Cousin Aiden, he might have been able to tell me. I’m sorry, Keaton. I’ve never had a Supernatural being with such an aversion to dilation. I did want to do a thorough check up. I know that Supernatural’s tend not to have issues, but sometimes partials can and we don’t know her status.”
I sighed, “It’s not your fault that we don’t know what she is.” Oscar replied, “I made her as comfortable as I could.” I assured him, “I know that. I’m just worried about her. I feel bad because she went because our eyes go black when our wolves take over.” Oscar said, “I think it’s a good sign she noticed that based on what I’ve heard.” That was actually true. I took that comfort and fell asleep.
I woke up when the clock, that wasn’t in this apartment, struck midnight. Then I heard a hiss coming from my mate. Clocks that weren’t here and she was hissing?! I held Odette closer, “My Song?” Then my mate began to glow.
I linked Keith, “UHHH Odette is GLOWING!” Keith replied, “If that’s your way of saying you knocked up your mate, that mom hasn’t officially met yet, then I can’t help you break that news. In fact, I’ll be taking May on vacation whilst you break said news.”
I retorted, “I’m not a Fairy! I can't see a pregnant glow. Odette is LITERALLY glowing.” Keith replied, “Then maybe whatever your mate is, seventeen is an important birthday. That’s just off the top of my head though.”
I gasped as a seashell crown appeared on Odette’s head. Channing purred, “Mate is gorgeous.” I took a picture and sent it to Clara and Keith. Clara conference called me with my twin. My Beta instantly said, “UHHHH ok. Maybe Odette’s a Mermaid.”
I disagreed, “Odette hisses when I call her a Mermaid.” Clara said, “Ok, then I’m firmly in Siren camp.” I argued, “She doesn’t kill anyone with her songs.” Channing hummed, “Our ex seemed to think mate could.” That was a valid point.
Clara pointed out, “Well, we don’t only shift on a full moon.” Keith commented, “Blah, blah, blah, A CROWN APPEARED ON ODETTE AND SHE IS GLOWING!” I watched Odette telling them, “The crown disappeared.”
Clara growled, “I should’ve had you bring it to me. No, I should’ve been popped in. DAMN! Missed opportunities.” Odette whispered, “Lexi and Chase Daniels? What happened to Key?” I asked, “What the shit?” Clara declared, “Ok, I’m getting popped in for this.”
Keith snorted, “Uhh with May and I too.” Immy, Bryce, Tony Jr, Clara, and May appeared in the room. Odette whispered, “Don’t cry, Key’s mom.” I snarled, “What the fuck?!” Channing demanded, “Who hurt mom?!”
I called my dad immediately. Dad answered, “Keaton, it’s late. Is everything ok?” I asked, “Where’s mom?” Dad answered, “Sleeping beside me.” I questioned, “Is she crying?” Dad sounded confused, “No. She’s sleeping. Son, what’s wrong?”
Odette mumbled, “A grudge against Cassandra Conners. What Princess? What prisoner?” Dad asked, “Keaton, what the FUCK is going on?!” Channing said, “Bolt is freaking out over what he heard mate say.” Well, he could join the party!
Odette mumbled, “Ugh, delusional wannabe murderer, Keith and Alexandria are fine.” My jaw dropped. Clara said, “Ok, I might be wrong on my guess. Odette might be clairvoyant.” Dad snarled, “WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!”
I answered, “I don’t know. Odette’s glowing and she had a crown that’s now gone. It appears she’s now mumbling about things she sees. She was talking about mom crying.” Emmett growled, “What is Odette talking about Alexandria and Keith being murdered?!”
Alexandria whispered, “I’m fine.” Emmett snarled, “And if Odette has some type of sight?!” Clara argued, “Odette is not a Fairy, we know that for a fact. I think Odette is talking about the past right now. She said wannabe murderer.”
I heard Malachi say, “I’m looking, Emmett. Clara linked me her computer’s password. I’m into my sister’s research files, looking up clairvoyance. She had it bookmarked.” I looked at my Beta. Clara shrugged, “I told you, I went down a rabbit hole.”
Matt chimed in, “I’m looking too. We will figure this out, Chase.” Well, this really did become a conference call. Channing snorted, “Mate has powers. We can’t tell her about the Supernatural and NOW she has powers.” Yeah, this was getting dicey.
