Tatum growled, “We are an Alpha wolf, we can help.” I said, “We have no training for this type of situation. Self-defense sure, not this. We need to follow the plan.” Sassy huffed too but I spun on my heel and ran.

I heard snarling and clothes shredding. I made it to the door when I heard the buzzing sounds and teeth hitting and grinding on each other. Wow. Melanie really could electrocute people. Maybe I could too. I made it outside with no problems.

Delana was standing there waiting so I ran to her. She winked at me. A wolf snarled at us and Delana quickly put me behind her. Tatum pushed forward in my head and snarled loudly. The wolf backed off. Handy.

Before we could do anything else, Melanie’s wolf was there. Freya growled menacingly. I looked around realizing we were being surrounded. Delana noticed and our eyes locked for a second. Then I saw it, a hot spring. Caspian said I just needed to wish for him.

I yelled, “Follow me!” I ran for the spring while my kidnappers chased us. I grabbed Delana’s hand. Melanie’s wolf scooped us up onto her back. I yelled, “Get to the hot spring!” Delana yelled, “WHAT?!” Melanie didn’t question it and kept running.

My friend took off and we were there in a flash. I closed my eyes and yelled, “CASPIAN!” I wished to be with him harder than I ever had. I felt the water hit me as Melanie dove in. I saw what looked like a portal while Delana stared at me in shock.

I grabbed them and pulled them through, then we were falling for what felt like thirty minutes. I screamed as we plopped out of the water portal onto the hard ground below us. Melanie had shifted back with her clothes on. So, the books got that wrong.

We all landed on our butts. I looked around and nearly groaned. Oh no. I didn’t recognize this place. I wished for Caspian. Did I get it wrong? Did we go near the Merrick’s? Where were we? Sassy hissed in annoyance when tritons were pointed at the three of us. Melanie growled and Delana hissed too. What had I done?

A Royal

Keaton made his way back to Odette’s apartment. When I walked in, I saw a different guy at the front desk. I preferred Ken given the guy looked nervous to see me. I instantly went on alert. I asked, “Where’s Ken?” The squirrelly nervous guy shuffled, “It’s his night off.”

I linked Grandpa Frank, “You’ve hired a twitchy human to be at my girlfriend’s apartment when Ken is not? He’s odd and I do not like him.” Channing offered, “I like him less. Kill the sweaty man.” Grandpa snorted, “I don’t exactly do the hiring, Keaton.” Fair enough. I semi-seriously said, “You could do the firing.” Which had him laughing.

I took the stairs and caught a scent that had me pulsating with fury. I linked Emmett, “When did Lisa get off house arrest? I thought Alexandria doubled down.” Emmett groaned, “Don’t tell me Lisa followed you.” I walked out onto Odette’s floor as Lisa was about to slap Odette.

Channing snarled, “I’ll kill her!” I flashed over and grabbed her hand. I linked Emmett while I yelled at Lisa, “She didn’t follow me. Lisa came here to talk to Odette and almost hit her!” Emmett warned, “You can’t kill your ex with a human on duty. I know it’s a human because Ken is on pack grounds.” I growled, “Then you better get someone here to grab Lisa the second she gets outside.”

I linked Lisa, “Clearly house arrest is too good for you. If you don’t leave, I’ll make sure Alexandria puts you in the damn cells. If you ever raise your hand to my girlfriend again, you will LOSE that hand. Are we clear?”

Lisa gasped, “Keaton Frank Daniels, I can’t believe you would ever say that to me.” I snarled at her which had her flinching back. Channing said, “Lady just woke up and she can believe we said it. I don’t think she’s getting better.” I’d be shocked, except Lady had every reason to want to be away from Lisa.

I could tell, despite being afraid of my reaction, Lisa wasn’t going to leave. Emmett linked, “I’m coming up.” Then Odette started humming what could only be described as a fight song. The shocking part was that Lisa’s heart rate picked up. My ex was actually terrified.

Lisa linked me, “This out of town, practically a human will never understand you like I do.” I replied, “Thank god.” My jaw dropped when my ex turned and actually ran away. Channing admitted, “I think I can count on one hand the number of times she’s run away. Oddly, never while being attacked by rogues.” That was a valid point.

Emmett linked me, “Malachi has questions and he recorded the humming fight sounding song. My Beta wants to know if he memorizes it if he can make Lisa run away all the time. Ken is having a chat with the human at the front desk.”

I snarled, “The human should be fired given the staff knows Odette has a restraining order against Lisa.” Channing demanded, “Kill him.” Emmett laughed, “They know Katie Karlton does. They don’t know your girlfriend’s real name.” I retorted, “That’s hardly the point.”

Emmett assured me, “Our Warriors got Lisa out of here. I personally want to know where Odette learned that song.” My big brother was not alone in that. Odette told me all about it. Malachi linked, “Did your girlfriend really say she COULD ask her brothers? COULD?! No, no. Someone has to ask the brother.”

I replied, “It’s not like I know him.” Malachi snorted, “Then just hang out until Odette calls him and YOU ask him. We have GOT to talk to these people. One, they hold the secret of making Lisa tuck tail and run. I need that secret more than I need my next breath.”

“Two, maybe if we could talk to them and get a solid plan for introducing Odette to the Supernatural side of life. Three, we could tell them Luke has got to go. Surely, they know where he lives and is hiding. I can’t help but think that would be good for us to know.”

I snorted, “I’m sure they know that Luke needs to die.” Malachi linked, “They might not know his name or that he has people hanging around Odette.” That was true. I think the problem was they didn’t know where my mate was.

I was worried what they would do if they found out. Would they take her from me? Channing growled, “No one can take mate from us.” I agreed. If they cared about Odette, they wouldn’t do that. I was really hoping they cared about my mate because she needed her family. I couldn’t imagine life without my siblings. I knew she wanted that, even if she was scared.

Odette and I talked about prom. My mate had no idea the plans I had. She was teasing me about being good at things. It still boggled my mind that Odette never had a bad word to say about my hobbies or myself. Channing snorted, “Because we are impressive and having hobbies is a good thing.”

I sang, begrudgingly, because Odette wanted me to. Lisa told me Lady howled in her head and that it hurt her ears when I sang along to the radio. Odette did not seem to agree. Channing grumbled, “Mate can sing and is in choir. She probably knows a thing or two.” My mate’s heartbeat also told me she wasn’t lying. Odette really did think I could sing.

I danced with her as we sang. I couldn’t remember a single moment of my teenage years that was more carefree than this moment, with her. I didn’t know how to play the guitar, but Odette’s arousal thinking of me with a guitar had me making plans to rectify that.

I linked Clara, “I’m going to need you to get in touch with the techy Luna's Beta Female. I want to see if Melanie would teach me to play guitar.” Clara snorted, “I’m sure she has a spot for me on her schedule in like two months.”

I laughed, “I don’t care, I want to see if she will.” Clara told me, “The techy Luna is on everyone’s list, I’ll see what I can do.” Channing boasted, “But we have an in no one knows about.” That was very true.

Besides, someone else could teach me if Melanie couldn’t. Alpha Lux Bartlett played guitar. Maybe he had some spare time. Tristan McAlister knew too. All thoughts of the guitar left my mind when Odette started nipping at my neck. Channing yipped, “Mate can mark us.”
