As for my “childhood sweetheart” I wouldn’t go back for anything. We are through. Forever. Sleep well, Luke Merrick. Because one day you will find me when you open your eyes. You shouldn’t have given me your name, because it was your one advantage. Now, I won’t stop until I find you. If you’re half as smart as you think you are, you’re hiding.
Eventually, you’ll peek your head out of whatever hole you’re hiding in, and I’ll have you. Do yourself a favor and leave Odette alone. It will cost you your life if you don’t. You may see her as yours, but we both know she’s not. She may not know about Supernatural’s, but I’ve asked questions about you. You’re definitely not hers. Your attitude about her also tells me that. So, leave what’s not yours alone.
Have a pleasant day, because they are numbered.
Future Alpha Keaton Daniels
I felt a little better after I wrote it out. Channing linked, “You know someone in our family may see this, and you admitted you lied about threats and killed them.” That was actually a secret from everyone except the techy Muffin Luna, and her friend apparently.
Not even Lisa knew. It was somewhat comical that Melanie did. I couldn’t tell Lisa in case I did get hurt. A few times I was in a hell of a fight, but I couldn’t tell her that either. Lisa would say she told me so, then berate me for being weak and getting hurt.
Lisa didn’t understand being weaker didn’t mean the need to protect my family didn’t flow through my blood. I couldn’t help it sometimes, when I dove into people and realized the threats they posed to my family; I had to act. Sometimes it wasn’t even a conscious thought, just an unplanned reaction.
Looking back now, I wasn’t sure why I let Lisa make me think I was weak. I’d killed plenty of people. Some as the Silver Blade and some as myself in mask. Since the Resistance didn’t care if I added to their pile, I’d drawn the circle more a few times.
Channing snorted, “I can’t believe it’s still a secret honestly.” I guess it could remain a secret until Melanie gave it up. I was certain Joe or my Uncle Heath knew I’d killed some of those people. They never said anything though.
I was positive my dad, Emmett, and my mom didn’t know. Keith definitely didn’t. I told Channing, “It’s unlikely they’d find the note.” Channing snorted. I left the apartment through Odette’s guest room. I went to the spot that other guy, like her, had been killed. I didn’t sense anyone around me though.
I left the note where the one was left for me. It was out of the way. I took a charm to keep humans from seeing it out of my pocket. Having Aunt Haley in my life was helpful. She always had things like this for us. I put it on the note and walked away.
I didn’t know why, but I was positive Luke would get my response from whoever was watching Odette around here. I made it back to Odette’s without her knowing I got up. I spent the rest of the weekend with her.
I meant to make it home to talk to Emmett about the note, but I didn’t get the chance. Odette needed me and that was my priority. On Monday when we left school Lisa was by my truck. I groaned, “What?” My ex was crying. Channing huffed, “Naturally. It’s all she does.” Lisa touched my shirt, that was slick with her snot. I heard a hiss before my shirt was ripped off from behind.
Lisa turned red when Odette threw my shirt at her. My mate said, “Wiping your snot on people is weird. I’ll buy you some Kleenex since you can’t seem to stop. It’s unsanitary and weird to rub your tears and snot on people.”
Keith said, “Actually, you’re right. That is weird.” Lisa paled. Odette asked, “Does she do this a lot? Because it’s a miracle none of you get religiously sick. It’s so unhygienic not to mention gross.” May asked, “Why are you here, Lisa?”
My ex cried and reached for me again. Odette caught her hand and hissed at her. Lisa screamed an unintelligibly causing all of us to wince because it hurt our ears. My ex and Odette engaged in some sort of stare off. Keith linked me, “What the fuck is happening?” I answered, “I have no idea.”
Lisa backed up saying, “I need to speak to Keaton.” Odette urged, “So, speak.” Lisa whispered, “Alone.” Odette snorted, “No.” Lisa snarked, “I wasn’t talking to you, and it’s private, UNIQUE business.” She meant pack business.
I sighed. Keith said, “Well, I’m here. I’ll talk it over with you. Not happily, but I will.” I saw Odette looking at my twin’s neck. My mate tilted her head and smiled. Lisa retorted, “I only want to talk to Keaton.”
Odette huffed, “Of course you do. I want world peace.” Lisa frowned, “Huh?” Odette said, “I thought we listing the things we wanted.” Then, she grabbed my chin and kissed me. It quickly turned heated. When she pulled back, she whispered, “Let’s go back to my place.” I smirked, “Gladly.”
Lisa shrieked, “KEATON!” I turned to find she was now full on sobbing. Odette sighed, “Oh come on.” Lisa asked, “How can you hurt me this way?” I asked, “What way?” Lisa wiped her tears, “You flaunt your relationship with her right in my face. Katie doesn’t know you like I do. We’ve known each other most of our lives. You can’t even be honest with her about yourself.” I snarled, “ENOUGH!”
Odette slammed the door of my truck as she got in. Lisa smirked. I whispered, “You bitch!” My ex retorted, “Enjoy that fight, Keaton, she’s not right for you.” Channing warned, “The only reason I’m not gripping your throat right now is because she’s in that car. If she has an argument with me, you’re dead.” Keith grimaced as I got into my truck.
Odette didn’t say anything most of the way back to her place. Eventually my mate asked, “Can we go practice driving?” I answered, “Of course.” Channing said, “Mate doesn’t seem mad.” Odette seemed more sad than mad.
I turned the truck in the opposite direction. I took her to the same parking lot. Odette didn’t say anything while I coached her. My mate just nodded. When Odette parked, she smiled to herself. I asked, “Are you ok?” Odette looked confused, “Huh? Well, yeah. I just think we have the most toxic exes of all time.”
I snorted, “We kind of do.” Odette said, “I know Lisa was trying to manipulate me. I heard what you said to her, and what she said back.” Channing snorted, “Mate is quite calm about hearing me threaten to kill someone.” Yeah, well on some level Odette wanted to kill Lisa herself.
Odette continued, “I saw her smirk before that. I know we can’t possibly know everything about each other yet. You grew up with Lisa. Even though it pisses me off she knows things I don’t, that's not your fault.”
I asked, “So, you’re not mad?” Odette bit her lip and looked out the window. Eventually my mate whispered, “Not at you.” I tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear asking, “Then what or who are you mad at?”
Odette turned to face me, “I don’t know. When Lisa said you knew each your whole lives, I just got so mad.” I frowned because now I was lost. Channing offered, “I have nothing.” I apologized to my mate, “I’m sorry, but I don’t understand.”
Keith linked me, “Are you guys ok? Ken said you’re not at not Katie’s place.” They were really all committing to this not Katie bit. Channing snorted, “The wolves committed first.” Naturally. I replied, “My mate wanted a driving lesson, but she’s not mad at me. Katie seems to be upset that we didn't grow up together.”
Keith replied, “Umm, ok. Weird, but her name still isn’t Katie.” I snorted, “At least it’s not just me who is confused.” Keith said, “I see you still ignoring the name comments. I can ask May about the being upset you didn’t grow up together thing. Maybe it’s a chick thing.”
After a minute my twin told me, “May thinks not Katie just wants a normal childhood, and she could’ve had that here since we accepted her. Does that make sense? Not really, but I got nothing else to offer here.” I guess that made as much sense as anything else.
